There is no fear, won't happen at another club either.
If it hasn't happened now it's not going to. Has the tools but not the attitude to become an A grade player.
Should be on the trade table at years end.
Unfortunate but true.
I hope you're right, if he does get moved on at seasons end, that he doesn't go on to become an absolute gun which we know he can be if he gets his attitude right. But in all honesty it doesn't look like he can IMO.

Barker was on SEN this morning saying that he would like Yarran to stick around should he get the gig next year at Carlton, ultimately does he make the decisions whether he goes or stays or is it up to SOS? I'd like us to be daring and get rid of these guys who we have hung onto for years and hoping that something eventuates and never does.

Clearly Yarran does not want to be at the club. Actions speak larger than words. He has been dropped twice for failing to attend meetings, and last night was the most petulant display I have seen from a player for a while. He should be dropped and then work out the best possible trade for the club. Replace him with kids who want to play. I am over Yarran and his potential. Imagine the damage he is doing to the kids who watch his behaviour. Let's hope Clem Smith
has other mentors to follow.

To be fair he does have a few things going on in his life outside football at the moment. While it's not a whole excuse, some people deal with these things better than others. Players are human afterall.

This the sort of crap we have been tolerating for years. If he has personal issues then do not play him, and bring him back when he is ready. Just thinking how good were AFL players in the 70's & 80's. Hold full time jobs, train three / four times per week, finish three hour training run at 8.30 pm on a Tuesday night, meeting, massage, shower and get home at 11.00pm, then and get up to go to work the next day. No counsellors or welfare officers, just a group of hard nosed people who wanted to be part of something. The players of today are a bunch of prima donna's. Any wonder people are jumping off the game.

The players back then also didn't have to deal with the media jumping on every single thing they did. They could go out and have beers whenever they wanted to. They smoked. They didn't have ridiculous expectations pushed on them by supporters who expect them to be robots. The game is different now, but doesn't mean it is any easier. Just like those guys in the 70's etc, they have lives outside football and i bet MANY of those guys back then would have loved a bit of support when they needed it.

Problem we have is already they are saying next years draft looks thin

Of course this can change but that's what they said in the last U18s coverage

The issue is clubs won't give up a first rounder in a shallow draft esp for a pea heart so you then consider hanging onto him til a good draft comes but that might not be next year

Really? We had 12 Victorian teams with supporters that demanded results.Football permeated our Society. Used to have the Herald which was printed every night and Alf Brown breaking stories every week. Remember a show called World of Sport? Then we had the Sunday papers like the Press, Observer and mid week the legendary Truth which just made up stories every week to sell papers. The game is certainly different but not for the better. Stoppage after stoppage, 30 players around the ball, and players who cannot kick. Not to mention that scoring has dropped to all time low. I used to laugh at Rugby Union. A game for fat blokes with no skill or logic to the game. Well our game is becoming like Union, but without the fat guys. AFL players are over paid and under achieve. They refuse to accept responsibility for their actions and the AFL let them get away with it. Three strikes is a great example. It assumes that all players use drugs and the three strikes policy is required. World has gone mad.

If you think the media back then is anything like it is today you're dreaming. We have a dedicated footy channel, 24 hour news, twitter, social media, people taking pics and video with mobile phones (setting up coaches even ala Clarkson incident). Nothing like it used to be.

You're right though that Yarran shouldn't be playing 1's while his head isn't inn the game. Get the help he needs and go from there. Fair chance we'll field offers for him this offseason, one of the players i think we could get decent return for.

For Yazz to stay we need him to be a leader, for what's gonna be a young group. Doubt he has those sort of qualities in him. He looks far too heavy. Lost all his run.

With Doc, Simmo, and Irish providing rebound maybe a stint forward and some goals will give him some confidence.

Yarran has enough currency for a 1st rounder IMO. Theres 17 other teams that would love him and you only need to have 1 team whos overly keen and then that will force rival clubs to up the bid to get him which will push what we can get for him.

They are saying the talent drops off after 1st round so theres no point trading in for 2nd rounders. St Kilda will finish above us meaning if Rice wants to come to us and St Kilda bid (a few picks after us) with their 2nd rounder then we would only need a 3rd rounder to get him and might look for an extra pick there to cover this. Silvagni bleeds too blue and is a bottom age player being born in December so I think sides are just gonna leave him alone until the talent runs this around the 3rd round so I suspect we will get him with a 4th round pick after points are reduced and all that jazz.

If we get Weitering or Schache (long term kpp), perhaps Yarran for a 1st rounder (best available), Rice for a 3rd rounder (replace Yarran off hbf), Silvagni for a 4th rounder (long term kpf) thats a good day at the draft.

Would Yarran be tradable for Dixon straight up in anyones opinion? I see great scope to just trade Yaz straight up for a requirement.

Not a bad deal, but I'd be concerned with Dicksons inability to play more than 1 game in a row.

In theory Dixon would be a perfect fit for us.

In reality he's only on the park for half the amount of games, and he gets subbed off for any small injury. Subbed off today and either last week or the week before. Not the kind of crap we need unfortunately. Too much baggage.

You guys are crazy if you think anything less than a first round pick is acceptable.
He has the ability, but just is going through a rough patch. He IS the player we hoped he would be when we drafted him. We took him in the first round and developed him and he is ready to go. You cant say that about all first round draft picks, let alone second rounders

Look if we can get a club to even give us a couple of 2nd rounders then that helps us with our father and son points. If those points get us a Rice I'd be happy.

Have to disagree. You don't just trade quality players for the sake of it without proper compensation. As has been well documented, the draft this year is shallow and falls away after the top 20 or so. Yes, Yarran isn't playing well but he's got scintillating ability, All Australian ability IMO and I would be extremely disappointed if the club didn't pick up at least a mid/late first round pick for Chris.

(I love this club and the stance they have taken on improving culture but I am still livid we practically gave a quality small forward like Garlett away for steak knives...he's kicked 27 this year and would be comfortably leading our goalkicking at Carlton).

Melbourne are still laughing at us with that one...

Looking at the replay it seemed like the talentless hack Morris was following him everywhere and not allowing him to get uncontested possessions. Needed more help from team mates to block. He also needs to work harder to get rid of a taggers.

If he can't shake Morris he shouldn't be playing AFL full stop :p
