I am worried about implications of the report that Clarko called Reeves a 'spineless prick', and why. This is because irrespective of the potential of his son, or not, it suggests that Reeves, the CEO, may not be able to separate from the personal from the professional

I’m not sure there are multiple factions.
There’s the club, and there’s the Coach who’s not been renewed.
No one from a club point of view has any reason to brief Caro of how poorly they think this has all gone down, unless they themselves have been personally impacted.
All roads lead to Clarkson’s manager in my mind.

As for Caro issuing a warning to Sam Mitchell to be careful about what he says - I reckon that is so far out of her wheelhouse. FWIW I think Mitchell needs to work on his media skills because that sound clip with Whatley was not convincing at all. But why Caro thinks it's her role to issue career advice publicly to a dude who has excelled at everything in his career seems way off. So condescending.

We cant have our coach calling the CEO a spineless prick in front of others. Seriously, how can this work?? Then that gets leaked. This is a downward spiral for mine.

It's by far the biggest issue at the club this week. Probably this year. Maybe even this 5 years. It's nothing when compared with our recent 3-peat. It's nothing when compared with our next flag. It's nothing compared to Dingley.
Remember 5ish years ago when Richmond imploded, the Board was (reportedly) at odds & there was almost a spill? They've won 3 flags since then. They had it out, all got on the same page & went on to achieve sustained success in a bloody quick timeframe.
Like every family/organisation, sporting clubs have rifts - even the good ones. It'd be awesome if everything could be planned & work cohesively, but that's unlikely. So, when it does come to a head... (IMO) it's far better to sort it out abruptly than to let it fester.
Hawthorn: abrupt disruption. relatively short timeframe (12-18 months).
Carlton: festering cesspool, minor disruption dragged out over 25+ years of shitness.
We shouldn't have let it get to this stage... yet here we are. I'm very happy that we're dealing with it rather than dragging it out.

Once the decision was made to not renew Clarko, to progress towards Sam, the club simply needed to sit down with Clarko and arrange a payout. This mess is poor governance. Both Clarko and Sam deserve better. None of this is going to go away in the next 18 months.
I recall Reeves originally saying there was no succession plan in place, that the club doesn't believe they work, and then two weeks later here we are...
The outlier remains how Clarko feels about all of this. Trusting the Chief, who wouldn't?, if Clarko wanted to continue coaching, that's already a massive red flag the club has ignored here...

Both Caro and Tom Morris have said their sources are within the club.
But I agree that Clarko's manager could also be involved, but it doesn't explain all the stories.
Of course you can. Its only an issue if neither party is professional enough to move on.
Caro is in a win win situation she can always stand by what she is reporting as it’s not being done under oath in a court of law.
When Sam was asked along the lines of “do you think that someone from the inner sanctum is leaking info” he said, “no, it’s probably from someone 2/3 down the line that has heard something or from someone making things up”. I prefer to believe someone directly from the inner sanctum that has integrity ....... than a person who has no accountability and bases their storey on hearsay and their opinion! Throughout all this Caro has also mentioned that she has heard different versions of events depending on who she has spoken to so she is basically saying that I have a multiple choice scenario here and I choose option B because that’s the one l like the best. Think about this people it’s an absolute joke! She makes me want to spew up every time she opens her mouth.

I agree the leaks are most probably coming from the Clarkson camp. But that does nothing to inspire confidence in the entire process
Clarkson will not speak out in criticism of the club while still an employee and owed over $1 million or risk giving rise to an act that could allow the club to properly terminate. I am sure we will hear Clarkson’s honest views when he is no longer employed by Hawthorn.

Can anyone shed some light as to where the leaks are coming from? JK’s letter stated there were only 4 people in that meeting.

Jeff said all the players and all the staff were told about the meeting only takes one of them to tell their partner, parents, friend who then passes it on and so on so on. Caroline got the day wrong so it was not from a direct source.
