I wasn't as shocked as some over this decision, all be it 12 months earlier than expected. Did we all seriously think Mitchell was given the reins at Boxhill to be a aspiring vfl senior coach?
I spoke at the start of year regarding Mitchell and hopefully Hodgey returning one day to both guide us in the post Clarko era. If we can keep Silk around the club we will be in good hands Mitchell's work with the premiership Wce midfield and Boxhill has been sound.
The time was approaching the young boys are coming thru the defence is looking formidable in years to come, the club is ready to hit this draft with midfielders, moving forward we need a coach for the next 3-5 years.
We have to go off face value that Clarko was the one that approached the board. The board ultimately making the decision I think they could all come to a agreement at the end of year.
Get behind the club the great man Clarko gave us 4flags and a three peat we will never forget. Hopefully guiding us thru the harder days over the last 4years. Let's hope
Mitchell and co can repeat Clarko success a decade later nothing will be sweeter.

I am not convinced he will and not sure that he should tbh.
Honouring the contract, in fact honour is not something we would associate with these kind of situations but Clarko has shown time and again that he values honour as number one. There is no need to rush into anything for Clarko and he can open most doors if he wishes to in the coming years.

The wording used during the press conference gave me comfort and Clarko and Kennett chose their words very well. There are no guarantee's but Jeff said Hawthorn would be supportive of Clarko with any oppurtunity that presents.

HFC and Clarko have left the ability to take the high road no matter the outcome. I am not sure it could have been handled any better than it has and it is a credit to all parties involved.

I think Clarko will honour the contact for two reasons:

a) He's a man of his word.
b) He would feel a sense of duty to Sam to ensure he is as ready as he can be to take over in 2023.
I think its more likely due to the commitments he made to players like Tom Mitchell, O'Meara and Wingard about coming across for a shot at a flag

I reckon you’re both right. And this is why we are who we are, because of the culture we breed.

This is why it’s going to work. We aren’t any other club, we are Hawthorn.

That wasn't exactly his idea.

Whether it’s the right decision or not aside, if there are people in the public and supporter base that had a feeling the club wasn’t going to renew him at the end of 2022, then I reckon the man himself may have had a clue about it being a possibility and been thinking of what post 2022 looks like for he and his family.

Back into the wagon? What wagon are you on? You’re standing on the sidelines screaming at the clouds and shaking your fist wildly. Entertaining, I admit, but the only wagon you’re on is the Emotion-Fueled Outrage Express.
The wagon that’s grateful for four flags in 17 years unlike someone like you that couldn’t handle the last three towards the bottom. Hope that clears it up!
Shakes fist angrily at simpleton!

You realise that people can be both:

a) Grateful for everything Clarko has done for the club and not have been out for his head; and
b) Grateful that the club is transitioning to the next phase if all relevant stakeholders have deemed this the best time to do so

So the only emotionally sound position is crying bountiful, salty tears? Clarko himself fails to live up to your lofty standards of the only true supporter is an emotionally wrecked supporter.

Get a grip. This was going to happen after Hawthorn's season finished in order to give Mitchell as much time as possible to prepare for the draft. It's been brought forward 2 1/2 months because Collingwood went and started sniffing around Mitchell. Other than this announcement coming forward 10 weeks, not a thing has changed. Clarko is still coaching the senior side to the end of 2022. Mitchell is still coaching Box Hill until the end of 2022. EVERY SINGLE THING IS EXACTLY THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE TIMING. By 70 days.

So stop with the tears and the pitiful claim to true supporter status. As a supporter you're no different than the toothless Collingwood ferals giving their players the finger as they leave the field following a loss. You, Alsmypal, are an abysmal supporter. And should change your handle accordingly.

You read the thread of where these comments generated from or just like chirping in all the time?

Any Box Hill Hawks watchers....

Any clues to Sam's footy brand ?
I don't live in Vic, never been to a Box Hill game.
Just curious to know if Sam becoming the coach of Box Hill has lead to any notable changes?

Now that the way forward has been decided it will sure be an interesting (and hopefully exciting) 2022 and beyond.

I think a LOT of people have forgotten that integrity is something Clarko lives and dies by.
It's so easy to tar Clarko with same brush so many other personnel in the footy business have been marked with. He's such a great coach, leader and person because he's one of those rare breeds in the industry who stands by his word.

Did you read the thread before you made comments? I’m assuming no and that your just some sad troll that likes to pretend he’s superior about the way people should support the club.
News flash clown you have no say in how anyone chooses to support the club and I’d wager I’ve supported them when times were tough unlike you. It’s people like you within the supporter base that makes me aware that we have some really stupid supporters amongst us as much as I don’t like it. Go crawl back under your rock you sad sad troll!

I have read the thread, yes. You seem to be very black and white about this and if anyone challenges your bleak worldview of this they cop vitriol.
Nah just a difference of opinion you don’t like and feel the need to comment on a lot. I also like the fact that you just skim over your lame attempt at trolling like I’m somehow responsible...

You just literally posted that I wasn't a true supporter and NOW you're saying I can't say the same about you? Surely you're having a laugh. You trolled me good and left me smiling.

You chimed in on a conversation where a “supporter” wasn’t happy about the last three years and responded to my comment.
You offered nothing constructive and I spelt out my position on where I stand on it.
You are a lame troll champ go get a life.
