AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
One serious tell tale sign of the mentality within was drafting a young kid with serious social issues that other clubs would not touch. His problems were not a secret. High risk high reward that was just not necessary in a pond full of young talent.
To be fair, the Cats current team is made up of a high percentage of players over 30. Then they traded 3 firsts for Cameron.
They may win the flag this year, or may not. But their cliff will be the biggest we've ever seen.
I’ve said this a few times, but whilst the strategy deserves critique, a lot of it can be pinned on some pretty bad luck. Cyril retiring early, significant injuries to the likes of Tom Mitchell, Roughy getting cancer, and missing out on elite A graders who had verbally indicated they would come. Meanwhile Geelong had none of these things happen, in fact quite the opposite, Hawkins becoming an even better player in his 30s, plucking Kelly and then getting all those first rounders in return, the best player in the comp wanting to come to them (Dangerfield).I am happy to be corrected but my recollection is that it was the club that wanted to follow Geelong's model. It was the club that used Geelong as the benchmark. Nothing wrong with this because you always look at what your biggest competitors are doing. But we need answers from Kennett and the board given the enormity of the failure. In any business this is when wholesale sackings begin. And not just in one department because this has been a whole of organisation failure.
No, rather than repeating myself I’ll leave this subject now other than to go back to where I started. For all the challenge that Clarkson is supposedly to handle he needs to exit in the right manner. He’s not and that’s a terrible shame.
You really need to show some respect to Clarkson with yours posts. This is really below the belt stuff in how you refer to him.Employee Clarkson exit not being handled in the right manner.
I agree in that employee should have been drop kicked out the door and no need for any payment imo.
Maybe it's employee Clarkson and manager that played this in the wrong manner and backfired.
Just a gut feel and if this isn't right then it must be the extra spicy curry from last night.
I still say Cyril retiring when he did had a huge impact on the team and club . And we are still feeling it a little bit.I’ve said this a few times, but whilst the strategy deserves critique, a lot of it can be pinned on some pretty bad luck. Look at their players ages , not only there best players but there B graders and depth .I still don't think it'll be as bad as ours but time will tell. We're currently at two straight bottom 4 finishes that potentially includes a spoon.

70% will be out in 2-3 years time .
They simple will not be able to replace or cope with that turnover.
Itll happen very quickly when it does too
Is all that’s needed is a member to ask at the agm why Kennett is president in contravention of the articles he implemented?
surely pro kennet posters would like to point to a successful dingley venture which is how many years in the making now?
I can see why Clarko got the sack, being too controlling, leading us to the bottom for 2 seasons with no clear path out, having favourites and playing them ahead of more in form options, spending all of 2020 acting like rebuild was a dirty word, i know Kennett has wanted more youth, at one point he and the board wanted Jeka to debut and Clarko ignored them for nearly a month ect, also it seems he is putting some of his favourite players ahead of the clubs best interests in recent years almost as a payback for past success.
So im for Clarko being moved on, i dont think he is the right man for the job going forward and if he heads off to Carlton or Collingwood then the best of luck to him, he has been a great servent of the club and even though i wouldve liked a more merit based hire, good luck to Sam Mitchell
As for Kennett i think he should move on soon and get a new president to lead the club in our next era.
you dont need to be a premiership player to be a Clarko favourite, TOB, Hanrahan, Morrison, Schoey, Vickery, Scully, Patton, Shiels, Burgoyne who was cooked last year, Wingard, Ceglar, others in previous years you know the guys who are in terrible form that never get dropped or only drop out for 1 week when anyone else has to more than earn their opportunity and get dropped for 1 mistake.so the successful players currently being played (or even on the list) are bigboy (whom Kennett presumably signed off as captain) Burgoyne (who is being transitioned into coaching ‘renewal’ Shiels and bruest.
so which are favourites? As I mentioned before the best part of this is kennet didn’t get much input on the new coach, who knows what he’d come up with. We know before he wanted to get lethal (whohas no interest in hawthorn and at the time was as old as Clarko is now)
could it be the board wants someone they can push around or even better scapegoat?

What a pathetic comment.surely pro kennet posters would like to point to a successful dingley venture which is how many years in the making now?
Where’s the meltdown ?Tom Browne had a meltdown after the game - ended up deleting this post: View attachment 1180011
