I totally agree. We have to get this draft exactly perfect. Grab him if he can play, but don't draft him simply because of the family connection.

What if an interstate club drafts him?

It will still remove Dayne's reason for wanting to go up to the Gold Coast, making it worth his while to re-sign with us.

The worst result is if the Gold Coast manage to sign him - In that instance, that might be a factor in getting Dayne to go back to the Gold Coast.

Quite an assessment for someone you know absolutely nothing about... And you didn't even need to do all that work, like actually seeing him play. That is so damn efficient...

Just the best available thanks. Brother combos don't usually work out for us.

I've seen Clay play a few times this year and believe me, drafting him wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to an AFL club. He has exceptional skills, very clean handling and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. This is his 1st year back playing footy after 3 seasons away, playing 1st grade cricket on the gold coast as a wicket keeper/batsman. A freakish talent and at 17, with what he has shown this season, yes please.

I'm all for recruiting the Clay who along with Steele, Wood and Beams would really help us build a strong team...

One could even say he could be a foundation for the future and that even if his skills aren't great I'm sure we can mould him into an elite player and he'll really take shape as a centreman if we put him at the coal face...

Doubt we'd get him though.

We haven't had great luck with brothers anyway.

The best brother combo we had going was the Rocca's and Malthouse ruined that. He also ruined Jason Cloke's career, so Jason and Trav would have been good to have.

Not sure if we could trade with West Coast, I'm worried about them "stonewalling" the negotiations... Would prefer to invest in the (draft) pool... This is looking a bit further ahead I'm looking forward to putting some Dawes between those Beams as a finishing touch...
