Kozzy wanted to go home, stop fantasising that he didn't. Place is a toxic cultural wasteland.
Did I not say he is homesick and would want to get home at some stage? I said he never requested a trade. Comprehension not your strong suit?

I think he requested a trade to a WA club it just wasn’t publicised
You think he did? Ok. Let’s face it. If he was desperate he’d have made it clear. I’d say probably the idea was floated by his management but dees would have said they aren’t particularly interested. I’m sure he could have demanded a trade like Houston Bolton Rioli etc.

Surely there is something up. If it wasn't for his ridiculous contract I'm sure it would be easy to get a trade for him. There can't be this much smoke with nothing behind it.
It's 💯 true Melbourne were shopping him around to other clubs as recent as a week ago.

Problem is the massive contact in coming years.

Apparently $1.5m a year.

No club wanted to touch that given the risks involved.

Potential scenario Clayton trains the house down this summer, gets back to his best, then off to Geelong. 12 months time their salary cap situation should be good. 50/50 split between Melbourne and Geelong on his salary.

If he gets back to his best, then he's worth what his contract pays. Why would Melbourne then give him away and pay for the privilege?

If Melbourne were prepared to pay 50% of Oliver’s wage then he’d be gone now. Why would be trade him if he’s back to best and fairest all Australian form?

Yep. I think Melbourne have missed the boat with a rebuild. Richmond have timed their draft picks perfectly albeit maybe coincidence. But with tassie coming in Melbourne aren't going to want this to stew any longer and get next to nothing in compromised drafts. Could spell disaster.

Melbourne is rebuilding though; barring any trades on draft night we will have taken 4x first round draft picks over two years (with 3x players coming in the top 10 presuming no super early bids for Lombard or Kako)

no. its not just about form now, clearly people are at odds.

Yes, they are currently at odds. But in the scenario you posited, he has a great 2025 (which is by definition if he gets back to his best), and the rift will be well and truly healed by this time next year.

Having said that, I can't see him getting back to his best.

That's the whole point?

He missed 9 games. He wasn't fit.

I'm comparing him to his best..i.e. top 5 in the entire comp.

So clearly he sucked in 2023 by that measure. He wasn't top 200.
Ok. I was just giving a reason he wasn’t top 10 best and fairest. As I said he wasn’t as
Good as previous year.
