What I want to know is how can Carlton possibly fit him in the salary c.... oh wait.

majority of our list arent 'a graders' in comparison to the league so we probably are paying unders for them
Simpson, Scotland, Robinson, Carazzo and Jameson for example. These players are the core of our lineup but probably cant demand too high of a pay grade
Judd is also coming to the end of his contract that was pretty front ended
If this does nothing but stir the pot, I'm happy with it
Would also love him at the Blues obviously
Pretty ironic that JuddsaBlue chips in for his bit of mischief making. After all Carlton are notorious for shady under the table deals to thwart the salary cap. And as for the deal to pay the Visy ambassador hundreds of thousands to do SFA. Say no more.
I am by no means a Carlton apologist but as a fan of Australian rules football, I'd love for Waite to stay uninjured for a prolonged period of time. A forward line with a key target combination of Waite and Cloke would be a mouth watering prospect for Blues fans.Hope he goes to Carlton.
This mid season, under contract, negotiation allows the player to establish his minimum contract value by courting offers from rival clubs (who could just make ridiculus offers to make it harder for the original club to sign him).
.
If the pies can fit him in after signing Pendlebury, Swan, Thomas, Beams and who ever else thay have signed recently then pretty much anyone can fit him in can't they?
It would make for an interesting off season if Carlton managed to land Cloke and Malthouse.
Especially if Greg Swann continues his role as the CEO of Carlton. If that's the case, they might as well re-name themselves 'Collingwood-lite'.
Well, the original club could just call their bluff and say see you later. If another club wants to pay way over for a player, let them do that.
As it stands now he apparently has offers in his pocket better than what the Pies will offer but says he wants to stay at Collingwood, thereby using the other so called offers as leverage against the Pies to drive his price up. He shouldn't be able to have it both ways leaving his existing club with no bargaining power at all.
