If you came up with this, ****ing kudos. Hilarious stuff
Dusty is the probably the issue. In 2021 we have used 39 players (40 including Miller) many clubs have used the same. Carl, Coll, Freo, GWS, Saints. Dogs 41.We've ben hit hard by injury for quite a few years now.
Yes we lacked spark. Have done it before and got our stuff together when it counted, not this year. Not to fussed. 3 Premierships with basically the same players is more than you could ever expect, so not making it this year is no problem. The older players might feel a bit the same so the younger ones are the ones we need to come on. Dusty is just icing on the cake. Whilst Astbury and Houli and most likely Caddy and a few other will leave, the important one's like Bolton, Balta, Stack (hopefully) and a few others are staying and are required players. Fringe players like RCD and CCJ are now players that if they want it bad enough will get games. Nice to have an offseason where we can finally get excited by 'who's burning up the track in December'.Dusty is the probably the issue. 2019 we used 39 players,
2017 38 players. So we have to anticipate Prestia & Nank & Cotch will continue to be unavailable for significant periods of time. Edwards missed a bit more with injury in 2021. Last year he missed due to having kids. So he should be more available next year.
This year we just looked switched off. Lacking spark. which worries me a bit. Nank depth is a bit of an issue too. The more I think about it the less I would like to lose CJ.
Can we find the switch again after a long off season?. What will Dusty be like? I don't know how GFC back it up, be contenders, year in year out for a decade.
Geelong's success came with Thompsons and charters drugs and now they buy their way into contention how? ask the AFL. We got success through hard work sacrifices and a brotherhood. It may not last as long but it's more rewarding than been known as cheats.Dusty is the probably the issue. In 2021 we have used 39 players (40 including Miller) many clubs have used the same. I saw the headline on Twitter but couldn’t read the article because not a herald sun subSo Bachar is angry and resentful and knocked back a farewell game and wants to play on at another club next year.
According to Tony Sheahan.
Retired Tiger Bachar Houli wants to play for another AFL club in 2022.
Houli was forced into calling time on Thursday by the Tigers, a decision he already regrets.
The club offered him a farewell game against Hawthorn at the MCG yesterday but he decided against playing one last game for the yellow and black in the hope of wearing another club’s colours next season.
Houli woke up Friday morning angry and resentful, seeking counsel from friends as to what he should do.
But one club Houli was keen on playing for next year told Sheahan Ink Houli’s age and injuries would rule him out of contention.
You think Tony Sheahan would do something crazy like try and verify his claims?Wow, no direct quotes from Bachar in the article though?

Why ? No one is denying he was forced to retire. Where is the mystery ?I think there's plenty of substance to it.
Bachar insisted on radio he wanted to go on in 2022 only last weekend .... and a few days later he 'retires'.
Not buying it.
Hopefully a long off season will help this next season, because we can play so much better than we did. This isn't just an ageing stars thing, it was a game plan and confidence thing.
I just checked clearance stats by team, on the AFL website. We are just about last in every clearance sub category. In 2021, I think we might see a different game plan centred around clearance winners.
Until "STAND" no rule change affected us. This seems to be our kryptonite
oops 2022
I dont think I was wrong, unfortunately. At the end of the year:
Cotchin, Riewoldt, Houli.
It's a hard call, but tell me I'm wrong?
These guys are only going to decline further and are finished.
A chance to send them off against the Hawks in the final round at the MCG would be my recommendation.

I think Cotchin can play on another year maybe Jack too. Edwards will retire. At the end of the year:

one moreI think Cotch will call time himself doesn't seem to be the type to play on for the sake of it, he loves the club and will go out on his own terms also has other stuff outside footy and he really values family with being prepared to leave the hub. He handed in the captaincy to help transition to the next captains and so he can be more free and enjoy himself a bit more in a "final" year, just my view
