Roast Club Propaganda & Media Censoring

I see all the players' comments through the propaganda lens. They are our club's equivalent of the citizens of the Soviet Union who had to make do with the regime. Some may be true believers but you get that in a closed system, where there is only one message. Any sign of open dissent and they are exiled.

So, again, I don't blame the players for supporting the regime in public. That's expected and necessary (for them).

Incidentally, the loss of control over past players is likely why they are relegated to such an outer ring in that consultant's slide deck.

I think that saying the fans should get behind them and being critical of the ones that aren't is something they shouldn't really be doing as it just makes people angrier.

I agree they are shit and increase the rift between fans and the club. But given the way the club is massaging the message with Rucci on the payroll and Ken quick to get on the blower to his Melbourne-based boosters at the slightest fan pressure, I reckon there is likely a bit of pressure on the players to make those kinds of statements.

All I mean is that I see it as another reason to be pissed off at the club. Personally, I am not pissed off at the players for it. YMMV though.

Not sure where to put this but it seems to be along this theme. So we have the club actively censoring fan pages and what they say in regards to Hinkley for the most part and criticising the club.

What on earth has the club become? I'm now told by certain media mouthpieces we can't criticise Hinkley and Koch cause once upon a time in 2012 the club was on its knees and we should grateful that in 2022 it no longer is, a decade later. We should be grateful that coaches and players are "trying really hard" & " working hard" when did the Port Adelaide Football Club, a institution where winning took precedence from 1870 become a U/14's footy club where they doll out participation awards cause they tried hard? You teach kids learning the game to try hard, and work hard but at the elite level that's a given, a expectation, it's not asked of the players and staff it's demanded of them with their high salaries, way of life that comes with playing elite footy. Now it's something used so we don't criticise the players or coaches, give me a break.

Apparently the fan criticism is harsh or stupid at the moment. What on earth is that? I watch the Premier League and European football religiously where the scrutiny is ramped up 10,000 times more then the AFL bubble with the media criticism on player performance and club performance. There are a multitude of fan channels on YouTube that absolutely slate clubs & player performance in that domain if their club lose one game, let alone lose two of the biggest games in their clubs modern history by the equivalent of football scores of a combined 12-0. That criticism is over the top but I don't see one player or club in England attempting to censor fan pages or forums, never happens it's accepted as part and parcel of the job.

But not here in the AFL or the Koch bubble. We're apparently to harsh on Ken who's had a decade to achieve the ultimate, who's team has consistently fallen short in big moments in the same manner each and every time, but we should applaud them for trying really hard. Give me a break.

Maybe I'm to old to understand the modern way of thinking, I'm not enough of a millennial to see that the club is warranted with its censoring of fan pages, and having a parrot in the media to push their agenda is a good thing, rather then have the football media & our fans in SA hold the club to account for it's failings.

At some point the past decade the things us fans hold dear from Alberton like The Creed, accountability for not achieving success, expecting success have been stripped away as marketing slogans for memberships and not the pillars that the club is based upon. At some point the past 10 years a massive chunk of the Port Adelaide Football Club has died, it won't return and the club doesn't remotely resemble what it was, what got us into the AFL in the first place, and what a lot of us older supporters fell in love with. That's the battle Koch and Hinkley have ultimately lost, and will continue to lose with their attitude while they both remain where effort rather then success is lauded.

I agree with all bar "it won't return"..

The propaganda machine is running at near full capacity now with Kochie, Cornes, Dixon, Caro, Amon, Goldsack and Jenkins (who have I missed) all publicly defending Ken.

For current players and assistant coaches I understand they aren’t going to attack their head coach, but it doesn’t mean they should attack the supporters.

PS if Dixon is criticising our supporters on radio, you can only imagine what Ken and others are saying behind closed doors. Great, let’s cause divide between the playing group and the people funding the club. Let’s toss aside all identity of PAFC.

Did Koch defend Hinkley this morning?

If Charlie Dixon is having a pot at us for being unsatisfied with Hinkley, I hope he never plays a game for this club again.

Josh Jenkins 😅

if we hoped that on all the players who parroted out club lines because it's their job, we would field an 18 of BigFooty posters

Why are these guys so publicly precious? Even if you don’t agree with supporters getting stuck into Hinkley, one good way to really tip them over is giving the impression that you think they really don’t know what they’re on about.

Charlie is an especially touchy bloke when it comes to Ken.

Which is insane because outside of making the number in dixons bank account grow a lot, neither has delivered us a flag. Or a grand final.

Or a great performance in a final.
