Whats Greenhams coaching background? zero I think you will find. The Two Blues are basically paying him 15K to play for their poor excuse of a club...

How can a club pay a playing coach 15K? Playing coaches can only get $1500 a season to reimburse them for expenses.

Now Tyson, stop trying to stir up trouble by making up nonsense. Back to the D4 thread pal.

Any chance we could have a yarn about something other than St Kevins on this forum? Surely there are more intersting and important issues that warrant discussion.

Peter, any news of substance from around the traps? Have heard that Kellaway has retired, and that the other Kellaway will head O/S if not picked up. Chaffey also O/S.

don't worry, the club isn't paying $15K to anyone.
Bob is just trying to make out he has reliable info about a club that he actually knows very little about.
Any club that has sponsorship and is able to attract a person of quality obviously only gets that person by throwing a heap of cash around.

Next he'll be telling you that Prahran is moving to the Southern league's new semi-Amateur league.

Bob Down may be right. What does Prahran do with its money from the pokies?????

Rice Joins VCFL Team

The WorkSafe Victorian Country Football League has announced that former Carlton and St Kilda footballer Dean Rice has been appointed to the role of the first full-time Training Manager for country football.

Rice was selected from a quality field of candidates and brings strong personal qualities to the role.

Rice has a good understanding of country football through his family and having spent two years as coach of Wonthaggi, then in the West Gippsland Latrobe Football League, in 2003 and 2004.

His passion and commitment towards the future of VCFL leagues and clubs will become evident as he works his way into developing the role and building relationships across the state.

Rice enjoyed a distinguished AFL career, playing 116 games with St Kilda and 118 with Carlton, where he was a premiership player in 1995 after overcoming two knee reconstructions.

Apart from coaching at grass roots level since his retirement from AFL, Dean has operated his own car rental business in Melbourne for the past six years and has a Diploma in Sports Administration.

Rice starts in his new role on November 20.

to be perfectly honest Phantom the money coming out of the pokies is nowhere near the amount of 5 years ago.
smoking bans (in gaming rooms) and the cut from 24 hour trading to 20 hours has made a huge impact.
the money we made from the venue in the early days was used to repay debts incurred during the VFA days (the debts were the reason we left the VFA)
these days there is a sponsorship of the footy club, a community sports program run in the local state schools and a the junior footy club.
and don't think the VAFA don't take an interest in our dealings, they are always keen to ensure we aren't breaking their rules. probably moreso than most other clubs. that's not a complaint, we welcome the scrutiny they apply.
