Considering that they have been in discussions for about 4 years - you would think that FCC has had enough time to come up with a meaningful offer.

Then the club should say so and take the hit and stop this stream of bullshit that insults everyone's intelligence.
It shows a distinct lack of testicles by the board and the two peanuts running the show.

I have an open mind on each possibility, with Freo probably being emotionally in front. I understand the need for the board to make decisions that wont be popular at times, but this lily-livered, two-faced stream of liquid faeces is doing no-one any favours and demonstrates further that the people running the show thinks we're all as thick as shit and loyal to the point of stupidity.

So, in essence, put your public relations degree into the fire and show some ****ing honesty to all involved.

I think they are being honest.

* They have clearly stated that there are 2 offers from FCC and 1 from CCC.
* They have not made a decision on either yet (read the CCC minutes and it states very clearly that the offer has not been taken)
* All designs have been made available to members

What are they hiding?

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

The Mayor of Cockburn says the final decision is due in February 2013. So if the Steve's announced it as a done deal they'd get slammed by the Cockburn City Councillors (not all of whom approve) for jumping the gun.

I think we can read into it that the Cockburn plan is the preferred option right now. Staying at Freo Oval will be the stand-by in case Cockburn falls through.

I'm getting the impression that they feel meaningful discussions have long passed
The FCC is loaded with scum sucking Greenies who do nothing other than make it difficult for anyone to do anything within the bounds of the FCC. Reality is as long as the dole bludging B.st.rds can have their swim in the morning and a coffee after nothing else matters. The City of Fremantle is F..ked all the retailers are shutting shop and bailing out (Myers). The FCC proposal is it must be a carbon neutral building and be fully carbon neutral when it is up and running. The cost of doing this is prohibitive and I don't blame the FFC looking at other options. I was born and grew up in Freo and would love nothing more than for FFC to remain in Freo. But at the end of the day a move to Cockburn Central is not the end of the world. After all Hawthorn & Collingwood have both had moves and it has done them no harm.
FU FCC

Why are the FCC always on the back foot? If they were beavering away actually trying to do some deals and put together a better proposal it'd come to light

Yep.

lol, maybe not as strongly but I agree with this as well.

Agreed. They aren't going to officially tell the City of Freo to get stuffed in case they still need them.

Honestly, without Notre Dame helping to revitalise the west end of Freo and the Fishing Boat Harbour getting the tourists in the rest of the place is an underutilised wasteland.

^ Notre Dame don't pay rates. From my visits down there it seems to be just as dead as the rest of Freo.

But it does bring students and their wallets into the area. The cafes and shops are all pretty vibrant and well maintained. The other side of the coffee strip is much worse.

I agree with Undertaker about the Greens being a cancer on the city of Fremantle (and Australia more generally). That they get away with pretending that they're environmentalists when they're actually just a union of Marxists and NIMBYs is the biggest political fraud Australia has seen. More people should be awake to their bullshit.

the other thing that just came to mind.... wasnt the fremantle oval surface also meant to be very hard and condusive to injury? I seem to remember something being said about that. If that was the case, you would hope that any move to cockburn would include the playing surface to be reviewed and approved to ensure that it is in no way adversely affecting our boys.

The Fremantle proposal included re-surfacing the oval and resizing it to MCG proportions, so the 'hardness problem that exists would be resolved faster by staying at Fremantle. That could be fixed in the next season break where Cockburn won't be available for at least 3 years or more

I would say just the size of the development alone would be a big tick for the club. Seriousley look at the size of the club uilding now, its hardly big, on top of that there is no pool facilities. This is the clubs chance to have there own unique facilities. Really i think anyone that does appose this is living in the past, get with the times people football has changed. There is no loyalty in football anymore, that goes for both players and clubs now. If the club thinks that this is in there best interest they really aren't going to care what some people think, just like the decision to get rid of Harvey, they new it may not be a popular decision with some of the clubs die hard fans but guess what, they did it anyway.

I think you this ass backwards here. At Cockburn we will have 'some' dedicated facilities but we build and pay for those ourselves. Other things like the pool we will be sharing with the public. Under the Fremantle proposal, we have out own pool albeit smaller. Do we really need a 52 meter pool with members of the public watching our players going through recovery / injury management.

I'm not living in the past but I'm seeing no case to choose Cockburn over Fremantle. Quite the opposite, in fact!

Personally I think Freo should go the whole hog and integrate with Peel. Build the state of the art facility at Rushton Park. If they need funding, the club could look st doing a joint venture with Ballas' nan.

Investing in Joynt Venture is more of an eagle thing I think.
