Could be a lot worse. Frost should be back in round 2 or 3 and the McDonald brothers are (Touch wood) still fit.

Doesn't get much worse, doing a knee a week out from round 1. Made worse by Col being on the fringe but likely in the round 1 side and late in his career.

We might need to trial one of the fringe forwards down back for some depth cover now with only Tmac, OMac, Frost (injured), and Smith the rookie.

I have always enjoyed watching Garland and football fans will be worse off for not being able to see Garland in action in 2017.

Goodluck recovering from suspected ACL and hope to see CG smashing it up for the Dees in the near future.

You're right, he's basically stuck with the club through some pretty dark times, particularly the neeld era. I hope he can come back from this, but I would think it will be very difficult cracking into the best 22 come 18. We're all hoping a speedy recovery Col.

Geez that's terrible news, hope the best for his recovery. Did enjoy some good years from him, could've been useful this year. He is 28 with next year contracted, not a definite retirement. Unless he says otherwise I'm not writing him off from at least having a crack for next year

Purely on form, he was never going to play more than a handful of games this year barring a disaster with other defenders being injured. But if anyone else dragged this club through the last ten years with less praise or more loyalty, I'll be buggered if i know.

Keep him on the books, pay him his wage, keep him around the club encouraging the boys on and see if he can't get a taste of coaching. As much as his ability defending 1 on 1 was sketchy at times, never remember him seeing him out of place in a complex defensive system. For a bloke who was always pretty quiet in the media, I'd love to hear more from him about his time at the club.

Horrible news- he may not be an automatic starter in your side anymore but no one likes to see a guy go down this close to round 1.

I've always been a fan of his- at his best he was a terrific defender. I hope this is not the end for him, but if so- i will remember him that way.

Your point? doesn't matter how long he is contracted for, its a payout and we will use the spot on the list. He was hard pressed getting into our side last year and less of a chance after a knee. Just the nature of AFL nothing against him just not going to be on the list contracted or not.

Will he though? We've already got one list spot free because of H, and there's plenty of other options.

We will wait and see. This list spot is important and we could recruit or trade etc for a better player. We have good depth in his position.
