Malthouse Resigns
In a move that has shocked the Magpie community, Coach Mick Malthouse has resigned from his position as senior coach due to health problems. While the Collingwood Football Club were sad to see him go, they understand that his health must come first. They wish him the best of luck in the future and that he can continue his support of the club. It is believed that in honour of his efforts at both Collingwood and West Coast, once a year, their match will be named the "Malthouse Cup".
Williams appointed Magpie Coach
Just days after the shock resignation of senior Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse, the club has once again sent shocks to the AFL by appointing little known journalist, Peter Williams to lead the club in 2008 and beyond. "We are very pleased to have Peter at our club and his insight and knowledge of which no one else has will be invaluable to our club" President Eddie McGuire said. Peter Williams had this to say "I am honoured to be able to coach the greatest club in the land and I hope I can help lead the Collingwood Football Club into bigger and better things in 2008".
