Was selected in Oakleigh's team round 1 and got injured 10 minutes in. Fairly sure he also made the initial Vic Metro squad but didn't make it due to his injury.
He was a bottom-ager in our Colts team so has obviously come along well since then.

KM's mention of Brown in this weeks draft wrap:
Tyler Brown, 186cm, 82cm, is the son of Collingwood premiership player Gavin Brown and the younger brother of Collingwood first year player, Callum Brown. Tyler showed glimpses with 16 disposals, eight contested possessions, four inside 50s, one goal, two score assists. Of his seven kicks, six were effective. What was noteworthy from Brown was his composure and the small, evasive steps taken in traffic that impressed. He never looked like getting caught with the ball and looks a natural around the ball and finishing off half-forward.

So we could miss on another father-son thinking they are not good enough...........like Jake Kelly!!!

Wasn't anything to do with what they thought of Jake Kelly as a footballer, had 1 rookie spot so it was either him or KPP depth in Gault. We already had a plethora of HBFers so the choice of Gault was the obvious 1.

How handy would Jake Kelly be now for us coming off half back. Unfortunately for us he is plying his trade for the Crows, and doing it very well. He would be one of the first selected for us every week had we take him, as he plays with skill, courage and desire. Will be a 200 game player for Adelaide.

i believe that Tyler Brown is eligible for this years draft.
Does anyone have any info on where he's playing & progress so far.
Is he a genuine draft prospect?
Which position does he play. Size etc

In my latest ESPN AFL Draft weekly wrap I gave Brown this writeup (see my signature for link to full article):

To get drafted, Brown will need to start winning more of the ball and improve his tackle numbers, with mild averages of nine disposals and one tackle per game from his four games.

Don't we already have enough Half Backs?

Sounds like Tyler is getting better the more he plays. Though sound like a Late Draft Pick at Best at the Moment and that with him keep getting better

Averaging 9 disposals and 1 tackle over four rounds, with just the one goal from those matches remains unimpressive overall.

With that said he needs the minutes on the field, coming off the bench and seemingly being lower down Eastern's depth charts.

I expect he'll get more minutes on the field after that game, so hopefully we see him put up some better numbers and build on that performance.

If picked, he still doesn't look like a likely late pick, but rookie is becoming more possible.

Agree. Rookie is the Most Likely IF he gets Drafted.

But you want to see Prospect Improve and that what sounds like Tyler is doing.

Knightmare what you think that IF he does not get Picked, What about putting him our VFL List?

Your attitude is the correct one.

What I saw on the weekend was a substantial step in the right direction, and there were enough glimpses of talent there to think - I'm interested to see if he can do that or better it next time.

I'd be open to VFL listing Brown if not drafted. Very suitable for the VFL rookie list specifically because he is a young, early stages of development type who may not play VFL right away.

Article and video on Tyler Brown and Ron Richards' grandson Ed Richards who we have no priority rights too. Not sure I agree with the comments that we'll look at players because of their family names though, after all we didn't maintain picks to have a crack a Weideman and overlooked Stewart, Kelly and Merrett's great-nephews.

Honestly you would be surprised if we drafted him off his performances to date. One, 16 disp and 1 goal game is not screaming AFL. Then again some very average footballers over the years have made their way onto AFL lists.
I wonder if we're playing funny buggers with Tyler in the same way we seemed to be doing with Daicos last year. It seems like a stretch, but it's baffling that he's only playing his first year of TAC this year given that Callum played for 2 years.

Yeah he's more a shot for the rookie list imo. See how he goes for the rest of the TAC season.

He wasn't good enough to get a call up to Tac level last year iirc.

Anyway if he continues to improve good luck to him hopefully he has played possum and does a Daics jnr who I think did get held back deliberately to a degree.

Very strange watching that video on Fox saying Tyler 'could be even better than Callum' given his performances to date. Nial also seemed very adamant that Brown would definitely be drafted which was a bit odd.

Yeah i agree totally it was strange. Said he has spoken to a few recruiters from various clubs too not just the pies. All saying he is draftable. Got me stumped why off performance to date is all. Maybe they see a big upside. Shrugs.

I posted couple of weeks ago that my nephew played school footy with him.

My nephew is a nice kid and he said Tyler went "ok" and is a "good" player......he was very bullish on Callum last year.

Without saying it not so positive on Tyler.

Late pick......or rookie is still a good thing. Not many kids that opportunity.
