The Stevie J comparison is "sorta better" except that Stevie looks for the showy stuff way more than Daics ever did. Daics would never have resorted to a snap from 30 out dead in front!! Their main similarity is the ability to kick the freak goal JUST when it's needed, they both have the ability (game sense) to know their responsibility and to use their superpowers just when it will kill off an oppositions challenge.

One of the best ways to remember Daicos is to remember how easily he could lose opponents with a simple turn or baulk, he even did it by standing still on occasions and then he would waltz around onto either foot and split the middle of the goals with low bullet like drop punts or torps. He was magic.

Last thing I'll say on Daics and the other champs from the footballing (as opposed to athletic) past, the great players are always noted as "having time" with the ball in hand. They have fabulous vision, exquisite skill and unsurpassed courage and they all influence matches in a clinical manner.

Daics is amongst a very small group that perhaps comprises Jezza, Baldock, Ablett(snr) and perhaps a Rioli if we stretch it a bit.....that left their opponents shaking their heads in astonishment at what they'd just done.
Look at the GF replays of Terry Daniher shaking his head at Daics first goal, or Tommy Alvin when he runs Daics to the boundary line only to see him bounce a left footer home from 35 yards. Watch Bruce Nankervis grasping at thin air as Daics hand passes over the man on the mark's head and regathers before sinking a 50m goal in a prelim final that wins the game. Watch the WCE players hands on heads shaking their heads when he kicks the "goal of the century" in the first elimination final of 1990.

Footballers at that level are all able to understand the game and all of the defenders spoken about that manned Daics in these instances were all very good defenders....it's simply that men of the ilk of Peter Daicos have an extra level, an acute sense of their own skill and a belief in themselves that they are capable of things other players never imagine. Peter Daicos made so many people "shake their heads in amazement" for so many years, that it's no wonder he's held in such regard by the footballing (rather than athletic) community.

Daics could just slip away from opposition defenders. They looked terrified when playing on him. I used to love watching their confusion.

Just updating Darcy Moore's height to 199 and weight to 93 from the chargers squad list, exciting prospect.

Says it Paige's article he is 204.

The deep war cry of “c’mon boys, here we go!” forced onlookers to immediately turn to discover a towering 204 centimetre, 94 kilogram giant who cut an imposing figure. That man was none other than Oakleigh’s captain Darcy Moore.

5cms difference is quite a bit

Was probably played down back again. By the looks of the scores, Moore didn't allow them to kick accurately. Might have been honing his psyche-outs.

What best small forward options are available for this draft?

I know there is Cauchi.

Yeah I almost forgot he played for the Pies long before my time, he captained the club didn't he?
Was a very very good player Kevin Sheedy at the time said something like he was the best player he has ever seen.
