I'd go after Bartel.

Former footy director at GWS, comes from the successful Geelong culture and comes across as a real straight shooter in the podcast he does with Ed.

He'd be my pick.
I'm not too fussed. What do they do? I envisage them ultimately being a safeguard overseeing McRae, Leppa and Wade. We'll be fine without a safeguard for a while, unless Kelly is too meddling and tries to do too much.

Wonder if there's any reason why people may not want the role?

Plenty.

Kids settled in school. Partner happy. Happy home. Happy at work. Great circle of friends.

What value would your average person put on disrupting all that by moving interstate? Especially for a job that can’t really offer that much more $$$ because of the FD cap?

Way too green for my liking.

Add the media intensity of any position at Collingwood

This talk of us chasing Bartel for the Wright role - I don’t get it.

Wright was one of the most experienced club operators when we finally enticed him back to the club. Years of experience at Hawthorn, etc.

Whereas Bartel has exactly zero experience in this or a similar role. He’s been a player, a media person, and a GWS board member. Am I missing something? And what makes him better than other numerous ex-footballers we could chase with similar limited experience in club land? Luke Ball comes to mind.

Finally, I thought the Wright job was sought after, and that our own Bolton and Leppa were after it. Am I wrong again? Can’t see them being happy about Bartel being parachuted into the position.

I really dont understand football club hierarchies.

Your last sentence sums it up well.

I thought Leppa & Bolton were now in the roles they wanted.

I don't recall them actually wanting the footy boss role, perhaps I missed that..? I thought they just had issues sharing the different duties whilst Wright was away.

Also employed at Lions in 2018 to assist in their list management department.

I couldn't give a rodent's ar&e who's footy boss, who reports to them, who they report to and what their credit card limit is..
Just win flags!!

Only temporarily I guess.
Its been mentioned in the media for a while, that while Leppa would be going into list management, they would be finding someone to take over the GM part of the role that Bolton was doing.
Bolton will go into admin/leadership or something. And they'll find someone else to replace him for the other role he did. Which is why they have been on the lookout for a new footy boss.

Yep that's what I thought too. I didn't recall them wanting the footy boss role permanently.
