Bolton is widely regarded as a very skilled assistant coach (known for meticulous planning and prep and decent tactical nous), with his abrasive personality more than offset by the benefits he brings.

Big part of the premiership win,
thanks to him.

I think Wright burning out meant the relationships weren't being as well managed, hence more frequent clashes.

Correct call if it was Leppa or Bolton, but we had both for two years, shame a lower finish led to the breakdown

I hope Kelly and the new footy boss can calm the farm, you can't just hire all the best harmonious workers, you have to work with imperfect people.
I'd say Fly, Leppa and assistants are preparing for us to have a successful 2025 without much care for what's swirling around them - a lot of managers and managerial positions are totally over rated.

Hope so.

I'm a big fan of the calm farm theory. Players are a mixed bunch, but if you keep things humming along nicely they're more likely to fire on field.

Ed used to deliver fairly calm admin despite the odd fireworks. Ditto Korda and Browne. Flags result.

Look at Melbourne, loose cannons and unstable leaders mean a flag side in their prime have turned into massive chokers. Their best player, a very steady loyal bloke, is playing chicken with threats to walk etc, no success if it's that bad.

Hopefully Kelly and [insert new guy] deliver a steady ship and a happy crew. Give them a chance.

Well I assume the rumours of Pies moving to Adidas were false. Other clubs have already announced theirs/had jumpers leaked. Nothing about us so far. Disappointing to be stuck with Nike for another year.

I assumed that was just a shoe deal for Darcy…

Explains why Jolimont is always packed post game lol I wait til the crowd dies down to leave.

The beating heart of the country’s most loved — and loathed — football club is a black and white patch of Melbourne where the locals really do “uphold the Magpies name”.
Reservoir is home to more Collingwood members than anywhere else in the state as the latest AFL data reveals more than 9 per cent of Victorians are signed up members of their footy team.

The AFL’s membership record was smashed in 2024, with more than 1.3 million fans Australia-wide signing up — with 650,000 of them from Victoria.

Data obtained by the Herald Sun revealed most Victorian clubs — as well as those with historic ties to the state — continued to have strong membership bases in their traditional heartlands or recruitment zones, while others had expanded into new territory.

Collingwood had its most Victorian members in Reservoir, with nearby northern suburbs Mill Park and Greensborough also high on the list.
Collingwood’s connection with Melbourne’s north dates back to the early implementation of recruitment zones in 1915, with the old Shires of Heidelberg and Eltham among those allocated to the club at the time.

The northern suburbs have also produced a plethora of Collingwood stars, including 1990 premiership player Peter Daicos who was recruited from Preston.

Diehard Magpies member Lauren Monteneri from Reservoir said there had always been a large black and white following in the area.

“I often see other Collingwood supporters in the street heading off to the games and when catching the train, no matter who we play, it is always outnumbered with Collingwood supporters coming from Reservoir,” she said.

“I feel a sense of pride knowing the suburb I grew up in is the heartland of the Magpie army. “We are big in number already and it’s sensational to know I live in the heartland of it all.”

3 home games in 3 years against the swans is a change even if one isn’t at the g.

True. I certainly whined about the imbalance for a long time. Think it was one H & A game against the swans at the MCG between the years 2009 and 2023 (or something like that). Whatever it was, it was ridiculously off balance, and deserving of a whinge.

Does that mean we could be playing GC or GWS in opening round with Brisbane being on Easter Thursday?
Yeah. Its ether we play GWS again 2nd year in a row.
Or forfeit suns during July holidays and play them in OR
Will be interesting which one it is
