News Collingwood signs deal with Grundy and closing in on deal with Ben Reid

STAR forward Ben Reid could sign a lucrative four-year deal with Collingwood as early as next week as ruckman Brodie Grundy also closes in on a long-term agreement.

Reid has been offered four years and is close to agreeing to terms with the Pies, who have significant salary cap room.

As an All-Australian defender who kicked 25 goals for the season last year after being moved forward in Round 10 he would be one of the Pies’ highest-paid players.

ROUND 1: Collingwood v Fremantle at Etihad Stadium

A four-year deal would tie him up until the end of 2018, when Reid would be 29.

As a restricted free agent this year, he would be an unrestricted free agent the next time he comes out of contract so a long-term deal favours both parties.

Grundy is in the second year of his first mandatory two-year contract and has played just seven games of football.

300k for Grundy is worth every cent. He will carry our ruck division for 10 years.

Reid is just a must lock away, period.

Ruckman like Grundy don't come along very often so you have to Tie them down to your club

Didn't we first hear this a month ago? I know it's impossible to find a pen when you need one, but it's going a bit like the stories we heard all last year with that player who made sure Taylor Adams jumper was present on game day until we drafted him.

He's a year by year proposition at this stage. Will have a better indication towards the end of the year.

I never heard of the Story last season about Adams Jumper? What is that all About?

Oh collingwood used to have this player who wore Taylor Adams number, on the proviso that when Taylor Adams became good enough we would then get rid of him to allow Taylor to wear number 13. I can't mention the players name on this board.

fitness staff wont allow it.

you get 3 shots on goal a week anymore and you need to be rested for a game with 'general soreness'

No need to rush on Broomy, probably need to see what he can offer later in the year first. Hasn't really been able to make a massive impact so far. I doubt heaps of clubs will be knocking down his door.

Don't bet on it. Good list managers need to act before the other clubs come biting. Broomhead has class written all over him.
