Other posters were getting me hopeful that maybe GW will stand his ground.

Nope, bent over as usual. Getting less for Grundy than Treloar. Shipping out our future 3rd for about to be delisted Frampton when we have basically no picks next year, whilst being stuck with 3 thirds this year we can't use.
Grundy has been hopelessly out of form for a few years now and was on a worse contract than Treloar

everyone should be filthy how this has played out.

should've been traded before this contract and all these cap issues wouldn't have happened.

instead we've p!ssed away Grundy and Treloar for a bag of chips.

Treloars long gone. We haven’t missed him either. Coulda shoulda. Time to look forward.

Get real peeps!

Pick 27 and a $150K pa wages contribution is a good outcome in an auction with only one buyer and a forced seller of a player who hasn’t played since ANZAC Day because of back-to-back serious injuries.

If the situation was reversed, everyone here would be outraged if we paid any more in dollars and picks than Melbourne have paid.

What's disappointing?

Dumped a big salary for a player who may be past his best and now injury prone.

Brought in 3 players with a 4th on the way.

Still have this and next years first rounders.

Apparently losing one of our best players for a garbage pick and having to pay his salary for 5 years is a win 🥳

It won't be the last. We gave McStay, JDG, Moore 5+ years. Just wait until one of them gets a long term injury.

The cycle will inevitably repeat.

Still waiting on when our list management strategy changes.
I see your point but it seems to be the theme AFL wide. I can't be bothered going through every club but the following two clubs are examples:
Petracca - 7yrs, Oliver - 7yrs and now Grundy - 5yrs (MELB)
Mckay - 7yrs, Curnow - 6yrs (Carl)

That's even worse that McStays contract is now the thing putting pressure on our cap.

No more excuses for GW. Any mention of salary cap pressure is now entirely on him given all the big deals now are under his reign.

Was a best player. Not for 2 years now. Is now injury prone with bad back-to-back injuries.
Don't think we're paying a lot and that's why we accepted 27. That will eventually come out.
If we grab Mitchell, Dawks are paying some of his contract which will offset what we are paying.
Not bad I say.

After Henry gets traded that's 6 first round picks connected to players being traded leaving the club.

Beams 2x
Treloar 2x
Grundy 1x
Henry 1x

Bye Brodie thanks for the memories big fella.

The last of the s**t deals we gave players in the past, so future trading periods we should be more equipped this had to be done. Onto the future now. Re-sign Ollie and grab Titch & bring on the draft.

Bring on season 2023!
Hmmm .... we just signed a bloke who finished 10th in the BnF (his best was 4th), with questionable character traits to 5 * $800k. Not sure all the bad deals are behind us. Hope I'm wrong
