Can’t believe people would even contemplate wanting to get Thomas. The bloke is absolute scum, he makes Jordy look like a bloody saint.
I'd think someone was having a laugh with Jay Clark, surely.

He's had several chances to mend his ways - we should steer well clear.
The stuff Jordy's done has been very minor by comparison.

I'd be loathe to 'blame Sidebottom.' He ended up getting burnt by Beams too.

Like when you recommend someone for a job and they end up burning you 😳

Heard Triple M mention we might be interested in Tarryn Thomas.

I find that hard to believe.
I knew Thomas before he was drafted and there were enough red flags then. If we want to clean up our image, then trading for Thomas is not a good idea. I'm all for second chances, but he's demonstrated his ability to show a total lack of respect to women and the law on numerous occasions.

Yup, we are still paying the price of that horrible trading with beams etc. it’s amazing we’ve recovered somewhat well but our biggest issue is a lack of young elite talent and also the capital to add it given our current ladder position. Port aced that 2018 draft.
Maybe I'm in a minority, but I rate our young talent. It will become elite. We haven't given the chances like other teams have, but it's a good core.

Giving away future first round picks is like playing Russian Roulette, just pray we don’t end up on the bottom of the ladder.

When we did it again for the Nick Daicos draft year it just blew me away, we never learn. It was a huge risk vs little reward, for me it was never worth it.
In 2020, we'd come off the back of a finals campaign, we needed points for Reef (because we'd gutted our list) and then we had to keep Daicos the following year who was at one stage looking like costing 2400 points (pick #1). So we took a gamble that at the time seemed like a good year. If we'd played finals in 2021, we'd have given up pick #13 onwards which isn't such a big loss for what we got.

The bit that sucks about the trade was cutting Liam McMahon after two years. Even the recruiters admitted McMahon was needs-based over ranking.

This would go against everything the club say they stand for.
I can't see it happening from the corporate view, but I'd suggest that writing off a young man for his sins goes against a lot of Fly's rhetoric.

No idea about Thomas as a man, footballer or what crimes he's committed, but the courts will deal with that and if he works hard enough and is good enough he should get a second chance. Surely we still believe in rehabilitation.

Sure, but I don't want him to be our ongoing problem or associated with our club. We're not a charity.

It's bad enough having to constantly defend JDG for his past indiscretions without knowingly recruiting someone who has issues & current charges.

Let North continue to support him, where he has been given multiple chances, or maybe Tigers if they prefer that type.

A big fat no to Thomas.

Why on earth with the culture we have built at our club would we want him anywhere near us.
Still remember a quote from McRae when he first came when Jordy got into trouble it was something along the lines “he’s got a fresh start with me”

I get the feeling he backs himself with his relationship skills with anyone, and strong clubs always do, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it was genuine interest.

Not saying we should or shouldn’t look at Thomas…I actually don’t have an opinion either way.

But Andrew Krakouer nearly won us a premiership off his own boot. And Stengle was massive for Geelong last year. Richmond will certainly think Pickett was worth the risk.

None of them were charity decisions. They were pragmatic football decisions.

There are plenty of footballers out there who don't have current criminal charges against them which we could go after. He's not our problem, why make him ours by choice.

And yes, of course people can turn themselves around. I just don't see why that should be our responsibility.

I could understand why the AFLW & partners of players would also not be too thrilled with the idea of recruiting someone with his history & the charges he has against him being around the club.

I'm certainly not the only supporter who thinks this way.

You’re likely to be right but an open mind doesn’t hurt either. We shouldn’t be afraid of recruiting anybody, under the assumption of innocence, without the fear of what others think….. if we believe we can improve them with our culture and they can improve us with their football ability.

If the AFLW tried to stop it, it would be nothing more than a restraint of trade. I doubt they would have a say.

No one thinks TT doesn't have an issue in regards to respecting women. That's indisputable. That's why he's needed ongoing counselling and support.

Looks like we'll just have to agree to disagree on him. I don't care how talented he is, I don't want him in the club I support.

I love the culture our club is building & imo, he'd only take us backwards.

This is probably where we differ. I don't care about any of the Jordy innuendo from opposition supporters or the press.
