I’m not so sure. It’s the contract they want gone. If it meant the books we cleared fully, we wouldn’t get a first
If the intent is to clear his contract to bring in others, then I’d be expecting to get back something that will help get the deal done for others- eg a second rounder to add to Taranto

We’d be better off if we took McStay as a FA, traded out DeGoey for a first, and then traded our 3rds to Brisbane for their McStay compo pick.
I like what you are saying and it would be a better option generally. But would St Kilda still be willing to trade for DeGoey if their first pick is 8-10 and the trade cost them that pick? Same with Geelong although their pick would be closer to about 16-20 and we might get a better pick from free agency anyway. Im not sure if clubs would be willing to take a risk on DeGoey if he cost a 1st + a big contract. Im all for trading or even keeping DeGoey if his contract is small and won't get us a first round selection. But if we can't get St Kilda for example to come to the table and the contract is a big one and gets us a 1st (lets say pick 14) then I am happy to take that give Brisbane a few 3rd rounders for Ashcroft and move on. As to those who think we can get a 1st rounder from Brisbane for our 3 X 3rd rounders. Brisbane will have much better deals available for their 1st. So I don't mind getting rid of a few picks in the 40's. Its not the best deal but a fair compromise if it is necessary.

Dont think they will if they get Band 2 compensation which people are saying is likely. Our 3 third rounders is just over the points of what that compo pick is worth
I don't think it would bother Brisbane especially if they were getting more points for Ashcroft. Its much of a muchness.

Ugle-Hagan was 195 when drafted, he’s apparently 197 now but looks no taller than Naughton live. Logan McDonald is 196.
Why have you shifted the goal posts on this too? Your original statement was all the true key forwards are over 200cm. Now you’ve dropped back the requirement by 5cm? Did you think nobody would notice?

that wasn't deliberate. when 192cm was referenced I came down in height.

Chris Scott was talking about 2002 Brisbane vs 2022 Geelong and he said 2022 Geelong would win because of the difference in size and he referenced Dekonning who is a 204cm full back.

The only logical conclusion to the news that the club is sounding out the likes of Geelong and StKilda that I can come to is that they’re looking to see what they could get in a trade. Much in the same vein of Danger to Geelong, they’re saying they’ll match offers to force a trade and getting on the front foot.

The only club I can see who’s genuinely in a better position to trade with Brisbane than we are is GC. And they may well trade their first with them. But if that happens and they have an end of first round compo selection, we’ll be in an excellent position to trade for that with our thirds.

I've watched you do it to a few others and if you could see yourself you'd die of embarrassment, how many years have you wasted trying to get people to argue with you? sad
If you could try and be realistic you could have avoided these melts. Do you think you could try it?

Jack Darling is 191cm
Josh Kennedy is 194cm
Oscar Allen is 194cm
Charlie Curnow is 192cm
Tex Walker is 194cm
Jeremy Cameron is 196cm
Jack Gunston is 193cm
Tom McDonald is 195cm
Aaron Naughton is 195cm

misleading list. a couple of older blokes, at least 3 guys who aren't key forwards, a swingman and Curnow and Naughton.

Picks I would prefer rather then our current picks at 42, 46, 47 = 1042 points
WB picks 28,37 = 1160 points (+ on trades for 28 )
St Kilda 27, 45 = 1050 (+ on trade points for 27)
Melbourne 35, 39, 53 = 1193 points

Thats just with a quick look.

Lynch would throw him out of every contest, and much better leading patterns, team blocks by that Brisbane side then what most dekoning's opponents provide these days.

Lynch, Brown, White, Aker, Headland, Notting, Macrea, Heart and N.Lappin all rotated through there.

It was a power house side.

The side that won 3 premierships vs a side that has won nothing. Let me think on that one.

Have known the lad since he was a toddler and he's ridden my boards so I'm thinking I may have some inkling to his size?
Can you please explain to us all why hes never measured in taller than 192? I mean, it’s not that I don’t trust you, but Carlton have no reason to fudge his height, and going by the eye test on TV he definitely looks around the same height or a little shorter than Silvagni, who is 194…

If we trade him we aren’t letting him go for picks exchange
A first rounder will need to be involved …it’s not 2020 this time round
Yep!
Trading the best/equal best ruckman in the game to current premier for sweet FA is defs a Win win win for someone, but not for Collingwood.
If the aim is to trade our way into premiership contention (alleged) then strengthening one of your most likely opponents is tactically stupid.
As would be trading DeGoey to Geebung Polo Club.

Trading either would need to be "obviously" to our advantage.
We can afford to keep both we should.
If we need to get rid of Grundy he goes to an SA club for a first rounder and they pay his entire salary.
I would not even consider either unless another club is coming to us with cap in hand.

Take McStay as UFA
De Goey and F2 to St Kilda for 9 and 45
Trade 42, 45, 46, 47 to Brisbane for 16
14 to GWS for Taranto
16 to Fremantle for Logue
Take 9 and a 5th rounder to the draft

In: Taranto, Logue, McStay, 9
Out: De Goey, 14, 42, 46, 47, F2

McStay ~$500K + Taranto ~$600K + Logue ~$500K = ~$1.6M
Out DeGoey ~$800K

Do we have a free ~$800K in the cap?
