Reef and HH won the sprint in their draft years so more speed to look forward too.
Murley is an absolute jet and Bobby Hill is lightning. Definitely looking to address our pace issues and it ties into Fly's pressure and turnover game. Love it... I have looked on with envy at other sides with pace to burn for far too long.

lol Judd went to our mad Monday as he was leaning to pies, then Carlton threw in the Visy brown paper bags and he chose Carlton.

Not saying he isn’t coming but as with Lynch can’t count our chickens.
He didn't choose Carlton. Pies couldn't get the deal done. Carlton could. Paul Connors said this and think its public knowledge.. But pies were his first choice.

I've always enjoyed how that worked out for him

*and I never count chickens, only sheep

Yes. Well reported.

Something along the lines of they asked Eddie how they would get it done and he said “let us worry about that”, and it didn’t give them confidence. It wasn’t a plan/strategy.

Eddie couldn’t land any BIG (superstar big) fish in his 2 + decades at the helm.

They had 250k outside cap money that we didn't match, the whole couldn't satisfy trade thing was bs as if they wouldn't of found a way to get that done if he ruled Carlton out.

Yeah, we didn't have the trade capital to close the deal.

They wanted Rusling and Thomas, plus a pick at the time.

If you guys don't think he chose Cartlon after the Visy ambassador deal offered you are kidding yourselves.

Prior to that he was pies and the clubs were talking, then after it was all Carlton pies ruled out they just used couldn't satisfy wc in trade as reason to keep a light off the back door dealings.

The apprehension to trade Thomas at the time was just silly. Yes he had good years when we were competing, but Judd was miles better.

First I'd heard about that, and I doubt it!

Here this can get you started and Dan on there was talking Brownlow night not Mad Monday that PP mentions before you go get confused.

Eddie also spoke of OT at the time and was in media as well including Iirc a pic in the Hun.

Under Eddie:
Club went from near bankruptcy to financially strong.
Moved to new home base with 1st class facilities.
Anchored in as MCG home games.
Collingwood played in 13 Finals series
Made it to 9 Preliminary Finals
Made it to 5 Grand Finals
Won 1 Grand Final

Should we have won more Grand Finals…yes…but that’s not Eddie’s fault.
He set the Club up for onfield & off field success.

What a rabble. Surely Rutten wouldn't stay if he has any self respect for himself, after how the Essendoom board tried to shaft him....
He should stay. He knows whats coming and he stands to receive a $600k payout. He won't ever be a senior coach again. He resigns he gets jack squat. Nothing better than the Bombers being hit with this payment, the hit in the papers and court of public opinion and with the soft tax.

If they do chop him next week & agree a payout, no doubt he will land a senior assistant gig.
If GWS appoint Yze…maybe he needs some experience around him…
Ben has come out of this entire saga with integrity intact (& enhanced).
Where as Essendon Board are a shambles.
If they go down the Hird pathway…will be a massive mistake.
Prolonged instability & infighting.

Read an interview several weeks ago about Paul Connors who managed Judd at the time. Said Judd had his mind set on us from the start and was not interested in the Blues at all. It took Connors months to talk him around. Connors claimed that we would not be able to satisfy WCE with a trade. They wanted players and he indicated we are a sentimental club and over value our players whereas some other teams aren't and don't. We know what Pratt and Carlton did to ease Judd's disappointment

Who from our list in 2007 could have satisfied that trade and actually would have gone to Eagles? Maybe Leon Davis.

Maybe we can call him 'Edithvale', as he's half way between Frankston and Hampton.

Technically that means Keane gets another year, he's still on the list til the end of the year I think, I know it was extraordinary circumstances with Covid and all but it's a massive opportunity missed and already sounds like he regrets it
