No he isn’t. The Hawks rate their other ruckman (Ned Reeves) higher and Lynch will need to battle him to be their first choice.
Even if that’s the case (the hawks have traditionally played two rucks) a contest for 1st ruck still places Lynch above Fort who’s a clear number 2.

Rubbish?

Fort 28 years old, 8 games, will be second ruck behind McInerney.

Lynch 23 years old, 3 games, traded to be hawks first ruck
I don't know anything about Fort. Can he offer something as a forward? I'm assuming he can, as it's what Brisbane need. I would have gone for Cox if I was them.

He beat him in the ruck and in general play, a bit much to ask a young kid with not match practice and coming from a non AFL background to also clunk marks and kick goals.

I don’t know what OOC means but not getting games behind Grundy and with COVID situation is no reflection on his talent.

We would have been better served keeping him and cashing in his improvement next year if we couldn’t get him a regular spot. This way we’ve basically given him away for An upgrade of a fourth rounder.

I get we need to be fair and facilitate, but how do we always lose out in these situations.
Disagree. If he beat Gawn, then Gawn would NOT have received 2 Brownlow votes.
OOC is out of contract so the threat pf PSD was always present.
I don't get the future 4th going out but still a good deal.

Fun fact:

We were the first trade of the year (Suns pick swap), first player trade of the year (Kreuger), last pick trade of the trade period (Freo swap) and last trade of the year (Lynch).

Actually they say the Ladham Trade was the last one

It looks like we really wanted Hawks future third and that makes sense as it’s likely to be the lowest of all the thirds in the mix.

I really couldn’t care less about 4th round picks.

We have 27 for this year and with Hawks future third we can really turn that into some gold, particularly on trade night if we have to bid on Daicos from 3 onwards.

We might end up with 2 top 20 picks in 2022. That would be ideal.

You could be right, coverage while Hipwood recovers from his ACL.

Depends on how you package it.

Gold Coast’s 4th -> Hawthorn’s 3rd is an upgrade.
Fremantle’s 3rd -> Brisbane’s 3rd is a downgrade.
I think that's how to look at it

I'm assuming we were offered Brisbane future third. We wanted more and got it by downgrading that pick a bit in order to turn GC 4th into Haw 3rd.

absolute rubbish we over paid. Chances of 3rd and 4th round picks have better careers than Lopo ski and Krueger is slim. For every 3rd and 4th rounder who have a good career there are 3 or 4 who do Sfa. We gave up stuff all for those 2.

It's not about the value of those picks. It's about the price we pay compared to what other teams pay.

Other teams are paying late 3rd round picks to acquire contracted best 22 players like Finlayson, Ladhams and SPS and we pay an early 3rd rounder for an uncontracted player that isn't best 22 when we have the number 2 PSD pick.

Lipinski might end up a better player than all of them. I certainly hope so. But his current value should not have been more than any of them. I was hoping that GW would have helped buck the trend of us overpaying for fringe players but he's not the messiah that everyone is making him out to be.

If it was Hine giving us the same result, people would've laid right into him.

There were some good signs from Hawthorn towards the back end of the year this season. Backline was without Sicily, Day and CJ yet held together well.

But I think the loss of Clarkson, Bolton and McRae and the seemingly desperate push to trade out senior players like Wingard and Bruest, who weren't interested in moving, might set them back.

Giants said the Bruest deal was acceptable to them, but Bruest knocked the idea back. Not a great look for the Hawks.
Can’t blame Breust
Who want to live in Sydney

This is so stupid it hurts my head. It's like you guys don't watch football. Lipinski is 10 times the player Finlayson is.

Oh well, time to check out for the next 6 weeks now.

Looking forward to the hand-wringing and then, hopefully, celebration (when we make it past pick 3 with no bid) all within the first 30 minutes or so of the draft.

With a little luck that will be followed by more hand-wringing and then, once again hopefully, celebration (when we somehow manage to nab Van Rooyen or Bazzo) all within the first 30-40 minutes or so the following evening. 🥳

So for 2022 we have our first pick, followed by 4 x 3rd rounders
should be able to move into the second round very easily especially if some club needs points for a f/s or academy. Could possibly obtain 2 first rounders for next year
Uh, are you sure we have 4 3rds?
