With Leon and crack on board, we would be purposely trying to get some Indiginous players in. If Hill came to us and settled in well and started playing the sort of footy that I know he can play, it would open the door for more Indigenous players to want to come to us.
Hill is cousins with Leon Daivs.

It seems we are destined to be a gutsy, hardworking TEAM as opposed to a side loaded with star talent. It's along time since we have picked up a game changing key forward. Sydney and Geelong have one waiting in the wings every time they need one. Who will walk into Geelong next after Hawkins pulls the pin? Max King? Mckay? It will have something to do with the country lifestyle and family feeling.
It’s never ending with the Cats bringing in ready made stars , we need a couple of stars to bring in who don’t like fishing or surfing 🏄‍♀️. Harry. I hear neither of those are your favourite pastime hobbies 😊

We ain’t getting pick 10 for a medium forward who’s stuck in the vfl, especially if he wants out.

Dear Kappa. I’d say you are a half glass empty type of guy but I just can’t find a glass to tell !

Could Hill turn into a Shai Bolton type?

I loved Hill in his draft year.

Or a Tyson Stengle type? I was a bit annoyed we didn't take the gamble.
On the topic of Shai Bolton, I remember being as pissed off that he was taken the pick before us, as I was when Selwood was taken pick before us. (Although neither as bad as swapping Clinton King & pick 3 for Steve McKee & pick 8, when the Pav was on offer to be taken early on - could've ended up with Fiora, though!)

Hill can pull a mark or goal out of nothing. Brown struggles to hit a player on the chest 30m away. There are times stats don't paint an accurate picture.

Even Brown’s ball use is improving. He’s actually been doing a lot of the kicking in since he’s been moved to more time in defence. This argument is becoming a bit like the “Cox can’t kick goals from beyond 40m” argument.

IN: D.McStay, B.Hill, Coll 1st rounder, 2nd rounder (trade multiple 3rds to move up)
OUT: J.Roughead (retired), J.Madgen (delist), C.Brown (delist), I.Chugg (delist)

I may be in the minority here, but i am hoping for a relatively quiet trade period. I think we have a great core and it should just be about adding a couple of pieces and keeping draft picks to continue our list build. This quiet trade period includes keeping Grundy.

In terms of the draft, hopefully we can finally land a promising KPP Forward with our first rounder.

You look over the below and argue about that best 22, but what stands out to me is how many guys in that second 22 are good quality players who can contribute at AFL level. great depth for us moving forward.

2023

B: I.Quaynor, D.McStay, B.Maynard
HB: J.Crisp, D.Moore, J.Howe
C: J.Daicos, T.Adams, S.Sidebottom
HF: J.Ginnivan, B.Mihochek, B.Hill
F: J.Elliott, A.Johnson, O.Henry
R: B.Grundy, J.DeGoey, N.Daicos
I: N.Murphy, J.Noble, S.Pendlebury, D.Cameron

B: T.Ruscoe, C.Dean, L.McMahon
HB: A.Draper, W.Kelly, T.Bianco
C: C.Poulter, F.Macrae, W.Hoskin-Elliott
HF: B.Mccreery, N.Kreuger, R.Mcinnes
F: C.Murley, M.Cox, T.Wilson
R: A.Begg, J.Carmichael, P.Lipinski
I: T.Brown, H.Harrison, Draft1, Draft2
I like your teams 👍
… though, I can see Howe and Sidebottom dropping off.
Ditto Checkers.
McStay will play forward.
Poulter and T Brown are goneski.
McCrae, Lipinski and McCreery won’t be VFL players. Nor will Carmichael.

Again, I return to Carmichael. Averaging 2.67 clearances this year despite averaging just over 50% game time. I’m very excited to see what he’ll do with a full preseason under his belt and capacity to hit >70% TOG. He’ll be 23 going into 2023 so already a more mature body.
Agree.
He has a big frame.
6 kg of muscle on that and look out!!

My point was about comparing apples with oranges. If you were to look at Tom Phillips stats vs Daniel Rioli's it wouldn't look favourably either. Stats don't always paint an accurate picture. Hill is a player who can impact with a handful of touches.

In terms of list needs we need a centre clearance mid with an output similar to Taranto's to take us forward. I also like Carmichael but he is on a steep learning curve and I wouldn't bet our season on him being able to provide that in his 2nd year.

Would this be close to where we are at.
Will happen - In McStay 1st Rounder 3rd Rounder Out Chugg Madgen C Brown
Good chance - In Hill Frampton, (3rd Rounder or player traded in for that pick) Out T Brown Poulter Kelly
Uncertain - Grundy Henry JDG WHE

Don‘t know of anyone else that has been mentioned.

What’s the knock on Poulter since being drafted? Looked a ripper in his first season, gets involved, pretty quick and gets his hands on the ball. Doing alright in the VFL?

Would have thought a 193cm versatile 19 year old would be given a bit more time

He’s the definition of average

I'd say Poulter lacks intent. He's laconic the way he plays his football. He's tall but not physically developed. He can kick long but has hang time. He takes safe options with his kicking. He doesn't hurt the opposition. Positionally he's limited to the flanks/wing. He isn't actually all that fast. He has some really nice playing attributes that could all come together but he needs a bit of drive and energy to get there.

Can’t say we’ve seen much versatility so I’d say that’s the main issue.
Maybe the Coaches haven’t been creative enough.

What’s the knock on Frampton.
