For me, it's Buckley v Swan.
Both Brownlow medallists.
Buckley, 260 games in B&W, Swan 258 games in the B&W. Close.
Buckley 7 times AA, Swan 5 times AA.
Buckley 263 goals in the B&W, Swan 211 goals in the B&W.
Buckley Premierships - 0, Swan Premierships - 1
International representation, Buckley - 2, Swan - 2.
Copeland, Buckley - 6, Swan - 3.

Stats and damn stats.
How do we seperate them?
Well for me, it's this....
Buckley -Brisbane Lions - games 20, goals -21.

Sorry Bux, but you ain't a Collingwood player for life. Not your fault, but it gives Swan the win.

Flame away.

If Pendlebury had more domimant games, he'd be the one getting towards Buckley's sphere.

Swan a more loved pies player than Bucks? Probably.
In the same league as a footballer? Clear rung below
Pendles massively overrated I'm afraid.
Has his day, and has the "time and motion" trick, but he ain't in the stratosphere of Buckley or Swan.

He's got Swan covered because his disposal, vision and ability to force other players into better position. Swan lacks the class of Pendles and Bucks. Pendles doesn't go into 'beast mode' as often as Bucks did.

The 90s both hurt and help Buckley, he was head and shoulders our best player, but I think his legacy would be even greater if we were more successful during his career. He certainly had superior skills to Swan and was a classier player, but with Swan's ability to impact games there's not much between them. Pendlebury like Buckley is class, but he lacks the hurt of Swan and Buckley.

"Disposal"?
Hmmmmm...........last couple of years pretty ordinary.
In fact, last year I shuddered when both he and Grundy had the ball.
This year I only shuddered when Pendles had the pill.

Yeah, I knew I stuffed that.
But the wedges were in the oven, and the JW green beckoned, so it waited until now to rectify.
"Last Premiership of the 20th century, until present".
Happy Chappy?

Only happy if you share the green

Bucks, Swan then Pendlebury.

Bucks was the complete midfielder.

I have Swan ahead of Pendlebury because he impacts games more IMO. I feel overall Swan has busted packs gotten a one two to open the play up or broken a line more than Pendlebury has made time stand still and hit a target. Swan lacked polish but he was still a smart player who could pick out the right options.

Feels weird talking about Swan in past tense.

You're not an umpire?
They tend to miss things too...

Buckley the best player.
Pendlebury next then Swan.

Are we allowed to include Daicos? If so he steps in too.

Daicos was great.
But not in the Buckley/Swan stratosphere.
The Brownlow says it all.
For a man who articulates well, though we may not always agree, I'm surprised you going for the Brownlow card.
Broncos deserve praise and good luck to the winners.
But it is not definitive.
Wayne Carey never won one.
Leigh Matthews never did.
Woewodin won a Brownlow, Brian Wilson, and others were it in the stratosphere of say Daicos.
Mentioning Brownlows, Len Thompson if he was eligible in your time frame was another absolute elite star.

Woey, no Brownlow for the Pies.
Brian Wilson? Games for Pies?
Thommo?, not in the modern era. Great player though. Loved watching him play.
Daicos, as stated, great player but 1990 to 2016, not enough games to be considered really.
Only 2 Copelands, before my 1990 start. No AA's. Disqualified.
I've stated the parameters, and only Buckley and Swan qualify.
And as Buckley is not a life long Collingwood player, he will always start 20 metres back in a 21 metre race.
