Well, yes that was Albo's folly right there. As soon as Dutton withdrew support, he should not have pushed ahead.

My hypothetical about 1967 would have to assume that the referendum was proposed by the government and opposed by the opposition party. As you say, that didn't happen.

Having said all that, I do think it's feasible that in the modern era, with social media influence being as it is, both major parties could support a constitutional change and it could still be defeated. All it would take is a populist snake oil salesman with deep pockets and a willingness to play to the fears and base instincts of the voters.

I doubt we will see another Referendum on anything for another 30 years if that.

Would be an amazing day brother. Wish I had of been there. Sorry to hear you got banged up badly bro. Keep fighting good man. Here if you need it.
I wasn't involved in the accident. I was one of the first responders on the scene of a really bad accident where someone I'd only just met 10 days earlier was killed. It messed me up a bit, only just getting my head right.

It was just a tragic messed up situation.

Hang in there ferbs, had 2 funerals in 2 days here recently. Get round your kin for some support.

This isn’t for happy reading. Not only did AFL.COM miss Glenn Archers 250th game against Sydney at the SCG in 2004, we made into 9 other mentions. Some of these losses have serious trauma related to it.

Adelaide - 39 points v North Melbourne, round nine, 2013 (Kerridge/Porplyzia)

Collingwood - 54 points v North Melbourne, round 14, 2024

Essendon - 69 points v North Melbourne, round 16, 2001

Geelong - 41 points v North Melbourne, round two, 2013 (Bartel diving the campaigner, Brad Scott roof game)
41 points v North Melbourne, round one, 1999

Gold Coast - 31 points v North Melbourne, round 11, 2013

Sydney - 48 points v North Melbourne, round four, 1999

West Coast - 35 points v North Melbourne, round 15, 2012 (Dean Cox down in Tassie)
35 points v North Melbourne, round 22, 2024 (still don’t know how we lost this game this year)

What a laundry list of failure.

The WC game this year, I was laughing at how poor the leadership on the field was.

Culminating in McDonald dropping a chest mark which would’ve sealed the game.

2013. **** that ****ing year

I suspect there was a bit of facetiousness in the comment you're replying to. There was an event in '99 which made unfortunate events rather... urm... palatable

It’d be like still lamenting a $50 trifecta you missed on when you bagged a $100k quaddie later in the day.
