Ahh yes, a ‘holistic health and wellness’ company.

I’m sure that’s going to do wonders.
If he does it right it will be fine. Chi and breathing go together and if you move your body in tune with your breath its more effective at what it does.

The only issue with wrt footy is it might make people a bit less aggressive, which we don't need.

But learning to control your breathing is a great way to deal with panic, chaotic situations and self doubt that accompanies people dealing (or more to the point "not dealing") with those chaotic, panic inducing situations. Which we definitely need.

Once upon a time people used to laugh at training the core for strength too.

They should probably go and train with people who deal with real life chaotic and panic inducing situations.

Not breathing exercises in the middle of a footy oval.

A lot of people who work in those environments would use these practices. I do, I work in a stressful occupation.

It's intrinsically linked to high performance - listen to Sheez's interviews with Dwayne, he is big in this space as well and is as professional as they come.

I've been in plenty of those situations. Believe me it works.

The better you breath the more o2 you have in your system and the more effectively it gets into your system. Your body will then perform better when it deals with lactic acid and will perform for longer before it needs to deal with it. Training contributes to this as well, in fact its vital and that's why concepts like VO2 max are so important in training for a sport like footy.

But training yourself to breath properly when most people don't is also important.

You use muscles to breathe, they also get tired or injured and that hinders how much work you can do. If you can elbow someone in the side of the trunk and injure an intercostal muscle early in a game then they will struggle to perform at their best for the rest of the game and if they never trained their diaphram to breath properly then they will struggle even more.

(Its a low thing to do tho, so save it for finals.)

Hit them in the diaphram like Cunners did to Vince and you can really **** them.

breathing to achieve high physical output, breathing to control stress and remain in the moment, breathing to achieve a relaxed state impacting on the bodies ability to recover… the list goes on. You won’t find a professional athlete that doesn’t put some attention / energy into this - most would put a lot.

Military forces use box breathing to control their adrenalin response, if it is good to help people getting shot at, I am sure it can help people playing football

Speaking for myself, practising breathing techniques was of major help for my anxiety management and in dealing with panic attacks.

Sorry, TPA, but there's no comparison to homeopathy and crystals. There's definite value to them working on breathing techniques. It would especially have value for something as simple (yet vital) as taking a set shot under duress, where you can take a couple of moments to collect yourself.
