This board tends to house a fair number of threads in which one or more commentators get panned. I thought I'd start a thread where we could all list the commentators we know of (from tv and radio) in three separate groups:
1) Rate. Commentators who you actually enjoy listening to. In this list, put those callers who actually make your football experience better. Perhaps you find them insightful, perhaps you think they call the play accurately, perhaps they just make the spectacle more 'fun', whatever. Callers you have time for.
2) Don't mind. Commentators who you don't 'rate' but who don't piss you off too often, either. Even on television, the truth is that a full season of games with no commentary would be pretty boring; the majority of us prefer to hear somebody talking about the game we are watching. These are the types who do the job without doing it brilliantly. Generally, if there is only one of these types calling a game (along with a caller you like), it won't detract too much from your experience - but if both/all callers for any given game were from this list, you wouldn't be too pleased.
3) Hate. Callers who really are worse than just listening to the crowd for two hours straight. Commentators who you are genuinely - whether with malice, or without - hoping do not get renewals on their contracts every off-season.
I will put my list in the post below. Interested to see other posters' opinions.
