Confirmed - Pavlich the latest player to be 'Fremantled'

Well, it has happened. The only player in Docker history that appeared to have escaped the terrible curse of being 'Fremantled', has finally succumbed.

Matthew Pavlich, once a potential champion, has had his career come to a screeching halt, like so many before him that have worn the vomit-inducing purple attire.

Once it has been diagnosed, the curse can not be reversed. Even if Pavlich bolts for the Crows at the end of the year in an effort to shake the dreaded illness, it will follow him like a stalker in the night. Even with a new team, he will still shank kicks, still hit the post when his team needs him most.

Had he left Lolmantle at the end of 2007, he would have been cured of the disease, as it still hadnt taken hold. But now, alas, it has settled in. It is terminal.

Confirmed - I've been calling him Fremantled for the last couple of weeks.

It hasn't just begun, it rounded third and crossed the plate last week.

The curse can be reversed, just leave. Medders, Simmonds, ect have showed it works!

given Freo's culture i think it's safe to say that winning a flag is not the top priority in matthew pavlich's career.

he can make an absolute heap of money if his next contract sees him stay at freo. with the gold coast and west sydney coming in and stealing a lot of draftable prospects, freo's rebuild will be a long one.

primarily because the club still hasn't admitted it is in a rebuilding phase, and its president said less than a month ago that it "had to play finals" in 2008. they've been topping up since 2004.

there is an outside chance that by the end of this year Freo may admit that they have to endure some pain, admit their window is closed, and start rebuilding (rather than saying ibbotson, palmer and mayne are enough youngsters to constitute a new era).

it means when pav next comes out of contract there will be a heap of cap space, probably enough to make him the league's highest paid player. he can put a price on his head which freo will match - can set up a very nice living for himself.

and if he's still fit at 28/29 he can do a karl malone and go to a real footy club.

Not quite all there are you? How can Pavlich be a champion? When Fremantle needed him most he CHOKED 3 times by hitting the post. 2 of those were from 20m out dead in front. He is the biggest choker ever to play AFL and its the difference between him being a good player and a superstar. He is just a good player.
