Before i say what i have to say i want to make it perfectly clear that i despise hawthorn as a club and every single person that supports them. Ive said this on our board but not yours that i cant even watch hawthorn games during the year, even beating lesser teams ....purely because of the hatred i have for them/you. But i cant help that, thats just how it is. I make no apologies for that.

However

What i do want to say to hawthorn supporters is that posts like that one ive highlighted , ie: we kicked points instead of goals and thats why we lost. is really a complete copout and if i was a hawthorn supporter would find it almost insulting. We were outplayed and the better team on the day won and won comfortably.

The idea of the game is to control the pressure and rise above it , which hawthorn did and we didnt. Its as simple as that. We had many many opportunities to kick away in the 2nd , and ya know what?. We didnt. You grabbed it by the throat in the 3rd and won the game right then and there.

Im absolutely gutted and i wont be posting on here again but i just thought that it should be said before all the bloody excuse fairys come out for the evening (or weeks as it may be).

Im off to sink my head into a vat of scotch and pick my chin up off the ground. You deserve everything thats coming to you and enjoy the million beers you drink over the next week. You lucky bastards

:thumbsu: Well done. Too Good.

I think we will have a few more GF's to fight out yet. Enjoy the beers.

meh... we rushed around 12 behinds.... remember that u weren't that inaccurate u just got beaten by the better team. Sit down and stfu.

The best day of my life. Almost!!!! How's the love I've spent the last how many how since the game finished talking to people I haven't seen since I was 14/15 and arranged to meet them for a smash session when I go home!

Best taxi I ever had in my life. Some guy who didn't really speak english but still reckoned he was a life long hawk, respect my friend.

Been waiting for this day my entire life and can't find the words to say how happy I am. I've cried today for the first time in 10 years!

I have work in about 3 hours so I'm going to try and get to sleep b ut I think I'm going to be upping my guts for the next couple of hours.

Oh man, I love everyone. Nobody come near me cause I might jump on you and kiss you!!!

I almost know how my dad felt. He was a lifelong Fitzroy fan and never saw his side win the flag. But when Brissy won it in 2001 I remember seeing him walking up the street in his Fitzroy gear yelling "Roy, Boys! Roy Boys!" something that will stay with me forever and now I've got the same thing!!!!

I think I've kissed and hugged and high fived 1000 people in the last few hours. I just can't get over how good our boys were today.

Love 'em all. I love everyone!!

Go hawks!!! :D:D:D:D:D

well done Hawks.
Was a great game to watch with the physicality in the first quarter setting it up for the last 3. When a couple of Hawks got injured i thought the worst but you defended bloody well and got the win you deserved.

A coleman, norm smith and premiers in the 1 year. Talk about all your xmas' coming at once :) Buddy might even win a Brownlow next year.

Thanks for the spectacle for us neutrals :thumbsu:

Well done lads, you played ****ing awesome and dominated a team that went 21-1. Take it in, lap it up, and enjoy every second of it as it's much deserved. Best part was seeing the joy in Crawfs face, he did it hard for many years, could have left to go to other clubs but he held strong and ended up a winner, i had a tear when he got his medallion.

Remember, when you wake up you are premiers. Congrats:thumbsu:

Some ****in class responses from opposition fans in the last 2 or so pages of this thread, as well as the original post. Let us hope we can be as humble in victory as what some of you guys are in defeat.

It's hard for us because for many of us that are late 20-something/30 or 40-something Hawks, it simply feels like we are back to where we should be. As tough as any playing group, as hard at it as any playing group, as intimidating as any playing group, as skilful as any playing group AND as proud of our jumper as any playing group.

Make no mistake, we were massive today. But for untaken opportunities, we could have lost to a very, very, very worthy adversary. As much as we can go on about the Handbagger stuff, let us be graceful in victory and acknowledge the fact that we played a class team, with an absolute champion leading them all the way (G. Ablett Jnr.) and managed to get a win yesterday. I'm just so very very proud of what OUR TEAM has managed to achieve and look forward to many more contests in finals like that.

glorrrrry at last. i am still crying with joy whenever i think of crawf holding that premiership cup aloft with the hawks flags on it.

goooooooooooooo you ****ing hawwwwwwwwwwkas

Credit where it's due, you guys are a classy outfit who played tough football when it counted and took the cup as a result.

Well done Hawks, deserved Premiers 2008:(

Well done and congratulations to the Hawthorn Footy Club, its coaches, players, staff and supporters. To come from the bottom in such a short space of time to premiership glory is truely and incredible effort from everyone involved. First class performance yesterday, and a premiership that is well deserved. Again, sincere congratulations and enjoy it, you deserve it.

Well done, Hawks!
Only a tremendous team could have beaten Geelong this year. Your guys were awesome. Hard, classy, tenacious and brave. You put the blow torch on the cats and kept in on all day.
You have a great team and a superb coach.
Enjoy your success. You certainly deserve it.

Would this type of stuff happen in soccer? Take my hats off to all the brilliant posts congratulating the Hawks!

I still need to pinch myself and I think its like this because we have been watching this awesome Cats TEAM that has been on another level for the laat two years and who could ever beat these guys. During this time watching the Cats there were so many games where I have sat down and thought WOW how good is it to watch this quick attacking highly skilled and high scoring game plan.

Well done Cats for showing us and other teams the way the game should be played by trying to kick bigger scores than your opponent compared to restricting your opponent to a lower score. Both produce the same result but would much rather watch a team scoring plenty of goals. I am sure that our duel will continue next year and looking forward to it.

Congratulations you blokes. Just fantastic pressure all day long had our blokes second guessing ourselves. We were playing your type of game all day long as we couldn't control the corridor like we did in last year's romp. Plenty of Cats fans will point to the large amount of behinds but what was it, ten or eleven rushed behinds in the end?

When your blokes got inside 50 instead of trying to set up blokes who were covered you had a ping and guys like Stewie Dew proved to be the difference. What a masterstroke by Clarkson to bring in this guy. I LOL'd at the start of the year when you blokes got Dew but the Hawks are now enjoying the last laugh.

Have a good one boys, I'm sure you're going to enjoy the offseason a lot more than us Cat fans.

regards,

REB

Congratulations Hawks :thumbsu:

Went in the underdogs and came out the winners, Hawthorn were playing the more commited football all day espically in the third quarter, and when the game was there to be won Hawthorn grabbed it.

A side note Buddy was quiet so that will end the No Buddy no hawthorn talk once and for all I reckon.

best players: hodge, Rioli, Bateman.

So im pretty much in love with Chance Bateman, Luke Hodge and Stewie "1 tonne" Dew :thumbsu:

Well Done Hawks, i had goosebumps during certain passages of play that made me realize how much better footy is than other sports. Shi*s all over Rugby :)

Yeah congrats guys, you played an awesome game. Kept waiting and hoping for you to wilt, but the Hawks were too good on the day. Oh, and why Hodge isnt captain of your side i will never know...

Congratulations Hawks :thumbsu: Terrific team effort.

I think i was more excited watching you blokes defeat the Cats than i have ever been before watching football.

Wow, still so pumped! Never thought the Hawks would be able to beat Geelong.
I wasn't as excited as I thought I would be at the end of the match cause I was kind of in shock, but now it has finally started to sink in, WE ARE THE PREMIERS!
All of the losing in 2004/05 doesn't matter anymore GO HAWKS!:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::)

Sick of hearing Geelong lost it for themselves. We rushed 10-11 behinds...and we were the more composed, skilled, courageous and determined team. Well done Hawks...far too good for Geelong.
