As mentioned in a previous thread, the wife, kids and I are travelling around Aust in a caravan, we are over four months in, and we are currently in the Nth West of WA. Anyway we just spent the day at Coral Bay and cannot believe how such a beautiful place is so unknown to most Australians. Would have loved to spend a week there, we are staying in Exmouth, but we couldnt get in as the whole town is booked out for the next month due to school holidays.
Coral Bay is situated on the Ningaloo Reef in North West WA, and believe it is on par with the Great Barrier Reef. The town itself is tiny with a few shops two caravan parks, and a motel, not even sure if there is a pub. But the beach which is within walking distance of all the accommodation is picturesque soft white sand crystal clear blue water, and just metres from the shore is beautiful coral and fish etc that you can snorkel amongst.
We have been to most of the big name places in Vic, NSW, ACT, Qld, and NT, and Coral Bay is one of the few that we would come back to a spend an extended amount of time at.I hope that the town stays as it is and does not become overly commercialized.
I could write more but fear my words are inadequate.
