Yeah I was actively talking about it here too.
They had more covid deaths last week than all of September the year before leading into their big wave, peaking in January.
I expect a similar thing to happen this year except I don't think their population has an appetite to be locked away anymore.

This is why I think they will be the test case.
They should enter February with almost everyone either having had covid and recovered or been vaccinated and if their population decides that they would rather be free throughout that then they probably never reach those heights again considering the virus won't have much place to actually live in the UK anymore.
We are starting from zero
all we have is vax and need to get it as high as possible and hope for gentler mutations or tweaked 3rd doses and luck

You're right but I'm talking about the political situation that will actually determine the future. If the UK shows that you can have even higher transmission with everyone vaccinated and let's hope the deaths are far reduced but still significant but the people and the population aren't budged by it - then there is a hope for our politicians here.
My theory is that we are delaying an inevitable sweeping through and our politicians are rightfully trying to save every single life from being lost to covid.
If we know it's impossible to stop it we can move forward into the inevitable tomorrow with a different plan.

You need to wait a month after your second dose.
And you need to be prepared to be isolated from everyone until you have recovered. Dead end cases that have an R value of 0. If we can have 10,000,000 covid cases tomorrow that nobody dies from and nobody gives to anyone else then we can knock our community susceptibility right on the head.

I think you've gone a bit far down the rabbit hole. I notice people are quick to disagree with me, demand a source but when I post it and they can't dismiss it off-hand because it actually comes from a reputable source .... crickets.
But that's actually a good thing. Science is all about having a high enough standard to challenge the existing right answer before you can replace it, unfortunately the current narrative that sits at the top of the tree was put there first, not correctly, and now we need to chip away at the narrative slowly so people can come around the actual reality of what we are dealing with.
Just like how the lab leak was racist, then just plain wrong and now it's considered the primary theory by the US house committee investigating it with the US intelligence services.
