In the peak fortnight of the outbreak to date (25 August to 7 September), the COVID-19 case rate among 2-dose vaccinated people was 49.5 per 100,000 while in unvaccinated people it was 561 per 100,000, a more than 10-fold difference. The rates of COVID-19 ICU admissions or deaths peaked in the fortnight 8 September to 21 September at 0.9 per 100,000 in 2-dose vaccinated people compared to 15.6 per 100,000 in unvaccinated people, a greater than 16-fold difference.

Dan stuff ups last year burnt out Vic. Honestly over Angry Dan of No Hope.
So this time around there was less compliance

If the outbreak was not in the west or north like lockdown 5.0 yes maybe we controlled it
As those in the east work from home and have more $$
There is also vocal anti-vax groups in a lot of non-english speaking groups. More needs to be done from leaders
Although look at the english leaders like Craig Kelly and Palmer etc they just as nutty

COVID really shown how much crazy stupid selfish nutters are out there.

I reckon where we we've ended up in Melbourne should put to bed the whole if she'd just locked down earlier we'd be fine idea

Just because some states have managed to keep small incursions from turning into full blown outbreaks doesn't mean that will continue to be successful or that NSW would have been able to if they'd locked down earlier.

Like yeah maybe if they'd locked down when the cluster was in the richer eastern suburbs that would have nipped it in the bud like over New Years

But maybe not. We don't have conclusive proof that lockdowns always work, in fact we have proof that they don't always work.

Like I think they should have locked down earlier because of low vaccination rates and Delta, and that mighthave given us a chance to not have it spread to other states as easily, but we know that closed borders aren't really closed

WA with another incursion today from a truck driver
There was no chance (imo) that Victoria had caught every single case before we began the reopening. I'd also bet my house that there was many, many more incursions like the removalists that occurred. People from NSW were 100% fleeing across the border, the same as Victorians tried to do last year.
The protesters are doing it for the same reasons the veterans did/fought for one protestor said.
There argument is that the Police shouldn't be shooting at them at such an important landmark. They shouldn't have been there at all, they knew what they were doing. Also, was easy to see a distinct lack of high vis in the crowd today.

You can ask yourself the exact same questions.

I love this. Everything is so black and white now. Don't ask questions or dare enquire about details of a story.

Pick your side and that's it.

I'm not picking sides - I'm just asking why you would question an eyewitness account. It is just information, take it or leave it. Maybe it doesn't agree with your narrative?

Annastacia Palaszczuk has demanded an apology from Health Minister Greg Hunt, declaring she has been vindicated by his decision to call for analysis into how vaccinations affect children.

The Premier said she had been “attacked relentlessly” by the Commonwealth after demanding an investigation into the risks for kids aged under 12 when borders reopen and Covid spreads through the community.

“I was attacked relentlessly by the federal government and today and yesterday we hear that Greg Hunt is now speaking with the Therapeutic Goods Administration to run analysis of the trials of five to 11s which Pfizer has been conducting.

There was television cameras everywhere, on the ground and in the air. I've seen no footage of anything that they claimed to have seen (in regards to random people/their vehicles), which considering there was a helicopter permanently over the Westgate is surprising.

Asking questions is a narrative now? Cool.

Guess I'm pro anti-vaxx.

There is photos of a guy laying on the bonnet of a persons car on the westgate bridge. Also blokes piled up on the back and even on the front of a truck.

I would find the Andrews government’s tunnel vision of covid19 funny if I didn’t live in Victoria. The negative impact as a result of all these decisions and restrictions and lockdowns is enormous and keeps growing every day but it all gets totally disregarded because of covid19. Its mind blowing. Staggering really.

Let the state move on and pick up the pieces and all of us be on the same page again. Continuing this dictatorial condescending non-sensical path of extreme measures will only escalate the tensions that these folly unjustified lockdowns and restrictions created in the first place.

The negative impact of the government’s “attempt” to fight covid19 far outweighs any potential worst case scenario covid19 could have ever presented. Of that I could not be any more certain.

There's no 'evidence' it would have made fu**-all difference, there is opinion. But yeah, it would have been nice if she tried while everyone was yelling at her to try.

The cognitive dissonance required to declare that Dan is a failure and Gladys did the best she could is mind-boggling.

How's Dans 7 day, 6 week snap lockdown going?

Gladys not locking down 48hrs means Jack shit at the end of the day.

What this guy said ^...

And for that I say 'Go Dees!'

She asked about the risk of opening up without under 16s being vaccinated as it wasn't modelled didn't she?

her quote
“I raised very clearly that there was an issue and we needed a plan for young children between the ages of five and 11 who weren’t vaccinated - what was the plan for them,” she said.

Personally I found the heavy handed tactics of the police this afternoon disgusting. It was a peaceful protest on the steps of the Shrine. Protesters would have left eventually like yesterday. Rubber bullets being used and capsicum was disgraceful. Aren’t we in a democracy?

The car that had tunes pumping, doors open and with people on the boot and bonnet crossing the Westgate? I don't think they were innocent bystanders.

Saw a guy faint today at the vaccination clinic. These alarms started going off and nurses scrambled to the scene, threw him in a wheelchair and wheeled him out of site.

Was kind of comical.
This is actually quite common with a significant part of the population after the process of vaccination and is called vasovagal syncope. Basically your blood pressure drops and many faint or get to a pre-syncope state, feeling very clammy/faint/nauseous. Those who are wheelchaired get taken to a triage room to lie down and have their blood pressure taken.

Usually you are back up and normal within 10 minutes of the episode. It's something I've had in the past with vaccines and on one occasion when I drank a strong tea on an empty stomach. Since then I've taken a can of coca cola or pepsi with me to a vaccination and have had no issues since. Maybe the caffeine and sugar helps.

Yeah I know what she said today.
12-15 wasn't approved when she Originally raised the issue and I remember she asked Doherty to do modelling on the impact to kids as what they had modelling on was the benefit of vaccination of 12-15 year Olds regarding track and trace

The mess they left and climbing all over the shrine didn't scream respect to me.

lol @ people who are surprised by VicPol acting like fascists

They’re far and away the most crooked and out of control police force in the country, have been for years

The Lawyer X inquiry made it clear that the police minister is little more than a figurehead

Is it more mental than anything? Is this similar to when people give blood and feel faint?

Exactly that, there are some theories about anxiety in the leadup to the injection or pain leading to trigger it. However when it happened to me I didn't have a conscious anxiety of the vaccination or anything like that. Maybe I just didn't eat enough breakfast? :straining:

Last time I checked it was a public place. If you were asked to move on from a public area and refused would you expect to be shot with rubber bullets? Disgusting.
I don't think many people would behave the same way at the shrine as they would at a playground, both of which are public places.

Using the Shrine of Remembrance as a place to push their fascist views is one of the most vile and disturbing acts we will see in our lifetime.

Those who served our country did so to ensure those they left behind and future generations could enjoy freedom and peace. They sacrificed their own life to make the lives of others better. They did what had to be done to protect the greater good, knowing full and well that they may pay the ultimate price.

They did not complain about mandatory conscription, and they would be embarrassed by those using the Shrine as means to complain about mandatory vaccination. They stood for mateship and camaraderie, not for anarchy and disregard to the law.

Those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country, thank you, and rest assured that the wider public is embarrassed and disgusted by the actions of those callous and disgusting human beings.
