Covids is the gift we will all get touched by

You'll be needing a 'COVID-Ready Kit'
Part of the plan is for Queenslanders to prepare a COVID-Ready Kit, including:

  • a thermometer
  • pain relief
  • your regular medications
  • a plan for who can look after your children, pets, or people in your care, only if you have to go to hospital
  • face masks, hand sanitiser and gloves
  • a plan for how you'll get food and essentials for two weeks such as frozen meals, long-life milk, supplies and food for your pets
  • phone numbers for people you can call if you need help
  • stay-at-home activities to keep you entertained
  • a COVID Care Plan in case you get COVID-19. You can give it to your health worker or doctor if you need to go to hospital.

only difference between that and our Cyclone plans every year is a torch a radio and a sealed waterproof bag for our important documents and canned food instead of frozen

Pretty sensible.

Especially if you live alone.

Most people should have all that in hand anyway.

Yep
Most people I know have frozen and packet meals for 4 to 6 weeks
More than as few have a vege garden
That was the one thing most people won't have.

And COVID will never stop the supply of food.

Even at its peak in most countries supermarkets remained open. Sure some foods hard to get, due to hoarding, but the supply chains never fell over.

Didn't stop hoards of idiots from panic-buying toilet paper though. Still remains the biggest mystery about this pandemic, why did people feel the need to stock up on trolleys full of toilet paper of all things? Not non-perishable food, toilet paper, keeping in mind that supermarkets were going to remain open. The average person must consume a shit load more baked beans than I first thought.

When you live 400kms from the city it is very common to have extra packet and frozen food

Fully understand that.

That ain't hoarding/paranoid prepping, normality for you guys.

Living near a supermarket and stripping shelves of pasta/TP/Flour/mince when a lockdown is announced is sad.

Having said that, the best shopping I have ever done is day two of a lockdown. Freshly stocked shelves and few people there.

And 2 days before restrictions were going to be lifted, Marshall has backtracked and has announced tougher restrictions. Home gatherings limited to 10 and restrictions in hospitality too. All because of omricon concerns. So much for vaccines being a ticket to freedom, especially if this shit is going to happen every time a new variant pops up.

The gym and home restrictions seem way over the top, he has backtracked massively on recent promises. This is a good article explaining Omicron and vaccine effectivness:
https://www.health.gov.au/news/atag...nd-the-timing-of-covid-19-booster-vaccination

To me this is basically making the booster mandatory in SA without actually officially making it mandatory. The current two jabs still give us 40% protection against symptoms and 80% protection against severe disease according to that article above, but this does go to 87%/98% protection with a booster. That article also states that South Africa believe Omicron will basically be non-existent in their country by the end of January and within similar timeframes for the rest of the world (approx 2 months from 1st case); if that's true and Marshall still believes our hospitals may get overwhelmed without some restrictions, then wtf have they been doing for the last 18 months about the health system?

Its going to be an interesting few weeks of strategies. Here in Vic there are practically no restrictions of any kind. The only thing they’re sticking by is masks which is fine by me. Cases are still high but the effect on the health system seems quite stable at this point.

The successful no jab, no subsidy scheme will not be extended to Covid-19 vaccines, as the jab becomes available to five to 11 year olds within weeks.

Anti mandate for some and pro mandate for others ...thats our Smirko

Findings from the study, yet to be published in a peer-reviewed medical journal
It included samples from 41 people given three doses

Hows are the shares going ?
Australia aren't given AZ boosters (unless there have been serious reactions to the mRNA jabs).

Vaccine effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2 infection with the Omicron or Delta variants following a two-dose or booster BNT162b2 Pfizer) or mRNA-1273 (Moderna) vaccination series: A Danish cohort study preprint found a VE against the Omicron variant of 55.2% (95% confidence interval (CI): 23.5 to 73.7%) and 36.7% (95% CI: -69.9 to 76.4%) for the BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273 vaccines, respectively, in the first month after primary vaccination.

However, the VE is significantly lower than that against Delta infection and declines rapidly 30 to 60 days, 16.1% (95% CI:-20.8 to 41.7), 60 to 90 days 9.8% (95%CI: -10 to 26.1) and -76.5% (95% CI: -95.3 to -59.5)

The VE for Pfizer double dosed is re-established 1 - 30 days after a third dose, with the BNT162b2 54.6%, (95% CI: 30.4 to 70.4%), but no data is available 30 days after third dose.
