Why didn’t we lockdown in 2019 for the flu?

How many lives per year are expendable in your opinion.

That’s a great solution when have a fully effective fully safe vaccine which is well understood, not experimental and doesn’t cause more adverse reactions and death than all other vaccines combined.

But that doesn’t exist yet.

What numbers would we have got with the Swedish or UK or US or Brazilian solution so we can compare apples with apples ?

I don't have access to sky news and I doubt many do
We really need to ease up on this divisiveness. It's not difficult for me to understand why people go ahead with the official line
Nor should it be difficult for you to understand why people are cynical and unhappy

The nexus between safety and freedom is not imaginary. I fall on the side of this is an over-reaction - but I still participate and treat those on the opposite side with some level of decency. Equating those who are not in line with the official measures as conspiracy theorists, beholden to skynews or any other aspersions is merely does not serve anyone.

No the BS is 15 mths after 2 weeks to flatten the curve, 6M healthy people are walking around in sun drenched fresh air with masks on and then not being able to work, pay their living, Go to school or socialise - to protect a minority and mostly they all nod and agree and say yes the govt is right to do this.
And to challenge any of this you’re labelled a tinfoiler. 😳

Vietnam did well so did Thailand for 3rd world cramped places ,it had more to do with a plan than a tightly packed poorer population

Have you been to Vietnam? Not even close to Brazils level. You could compare Vietnam to London id say. THe thing with UK though is massive govt corruption caused there issues moreso then any rules or lack thereof. I mean they bought core medical equipnent from a 1 person business in a random house and wondered why they didnt get it in good condition or quick enough. Also unlike the rest of the world, not only did they not stop travel from India they encouraged it at higher levels then anywhere in the world so they could complete a trade agreement.

Vietnam to Brazil though, Thats more a strawberry to watermelon in that case

Laughably off. The only comparison Brazil has with its Favelas for example (16% of its population) would be in India. No one else comes even close and thinking they do shows a alarming lack of knowledge

All of them are expendable and so are all those people who missed cancer treatments, screenings, and checkups last year (down 40%). **** those people

We didn't lockdown for the flu in 2019 coz, despite it apparently being a particularly bad flu season, 812 people died with no lockdown.

Covid death toll for 2020 was more than that at 910, despite spending all of the colder months and vast majority of the whole year with lockdowns.

So I guess the answer to your question is - about 800? Not in my opinion though, rather the governments.

Would we? The average Covid death age in Australia mirrors that of the life expectancy.

Your flu question is relevant, but all of those like Hawk who are completely government frightened and hoodwinked don't begin to think about any other virus or potential cause of death. Forget all the evidence of other health measures lockdowns have impacted. They're not being told to worry about anything else, so they don't.

The number 1 political target in Australia today is your Covid numbers, that's what they've told the idiots to measure them on, hence that's all they'll throw in your faces. That's all they ultimately care about.
 
The Vic Government are succeeding in the social experiment turning us against each other! Already on radio this morning people ringing up saying they are dobbing people in for not wearing masks correctly for business not showing QR codes in stores etc..

Insane how can you trust anyone.

This lockdown is not about the cases, about a month before this bullshit i was hearing noise that the government were getting pissed off that Melbourne town was moving on with life and starting to ignore their stupid rules with the main ones being masks and QR codes.

Lo and behold masks are ordered back on and QR codes are mandated surprise surprise.

This next week is not about the cases but will be spent relentlessly threatening small business with massive fines if they don't enforce the QR bullshit. As for masks they will remain planted to the brainwashed faces for the entire winter.

I don't think most people do, just the noisiest ones. People are over it big time out in the real world (where people have jobs to do and businesses to run). Mask compliance virtually zero away from prying eyes and people wondering why Victoria has had over 160 days of lock down when NSW managed their outbreaks with just 8 days targeted lock down. Plenty of people not going to get the jab either.

In regional Victoria I'm reading, businesses will be checking people's licenses and refusing service if they're from Melbourne. Gross. We might be losing our way.
