The thing with blaming the removalists is that the likelihood this highly infectious, mega mutant strain was already circulating in Vic(and no doubt Australia wide) is extremely high.

Because it has, allegedly, come from another state(the arch enemy no less) = convenient patsy for their own incompetence.

It's the "elite" schoolboy headlines that got me. Nice distraction and plays perfectly with the tall-poppy syndrome that is throughout Australia (even though they were within the set health guidelines). Doesn't matter though because look at these rich kinds instead of the leaders.

The context behind this that you missed is Brad Hazzard, the NSW Health Minister saying it doesnt matter that the 150+ students got the vaccine and media shouldnt be reporting it. All it did was set this type of stuff off.

Australian governments, state, federal and local are now the enemy
The country is being managed like a prison. Privileges are given and taken away.

There is no longer a rule of law - the social contract is irreversibly broken.
Eventually, those who are obsessing about case counts will twig what a total farce they are.
The positive cases are meaningless, the ICU and death numbers ridiculously below previous years.

Eventually this ends in chaos and violence - the crimes committed are immeasurable. No matter how many are vaccinated those running this cannot allow the restrictions to stop and normality to return because the risk of retribution is too high.

Of course, I don't want to believe this and millions don't want to face the truth and so we sit in this stalemate - for now.

Been depressing reading today. Feeling bad for Australia at the moment. Was just talking to my sister in Melbourne and she's so over it. Had a look to see if I could get my parents over here but they'd need a specific reason apparently. Can't just be for tourism, recreation or entertainment.
Make up a reason. Mental health, illness, help with grandkids, fake wedding etc.

Not even close bro. Goes

Reasons to come back

- Work for a AFL or NRL club
- Related to a Hollywood star like Zac Efron
- Own a yacht
- Work for a mining company
- Involved in the Olympics committee
- Organizing the sale of a aluminum mine in Africa (person flew in and out for 8 quarantine stays in Perth doing this)

Things you cant get in for

- Visiting a dieing relative
- Moving back home to live after losing your job, house and living in a homeless shelter
- Being Indian

My suggestion would be to fly to California and apply for a visa as a person working on the latest Thor movie. Will get flown in via a government private jet

Anyone get any news on new potential lockdown?

Tons of rumors that a Jack Russell who belongs to the niece of the removalist didnt QR scan in when he went to the pet shop to get his haircut so Steve Marshall has announced a 3 daylockdown in South Australia. Few changes besides that are all AFL footballs must only be hanlded with disinfected ovenmits. Dominos have also had to change delivery practices with all deliveries now to occur via the receiver opening the front door and the delivery driver frisbee throwing the pizza box into the doorway while the receiver sprays the box with Spray n Wipe as it hangs mid air. Never fear though. Financial assistance is on the way

Bunnings have received a 20 million dollar bail out package. All small local businesses have been helped too. Each small business owner can apply for a 10% of your next Ikea purchase discount card

I see quite a bit of eye-rolling and sarcasm around. What’s the actual tipping point though? If Victoria goes in lockdown then what’s that? Number 6?

Are politicians just relying on vaccines saving the day when they finally have supply? They seem to just be doing the same thing over and over.

They seem to be adequately able to shift blame enough to do what they want, when they want. This wont ever change or go away

This can’t be a fun life even for a politician on a power trip. Seems like a mess. Everyone on edge all the time.

Must be coming from the top with Morrison. Seems like politicians are just overruling the health professionals. They should be aware of targets. What is required to make things safe for the community without putting a strain on care. Embarrassing it’s taking so long.

I guess what you miss is that before this 1 situation, Dan Andrews and Mark McGowan had absolutely zero impact on anything meaningful. A part from building a train no one wants or will use, McGowan was floating around doing absolutely nothing of note. Dan was even worse. All he was doing was signing contracts with China that the Federal govt were cancelling since they were illegal in the first place

No one knew who these people were or the point of there existence. All of a sudden Covid came along and so did National Cabinet meetings. They saw this and latched on and latched on hard. Scomo invited these people to cabinet meetings and said, lets work as a team, who wants to do what and these guys who were literally doing nothing put there hand up for a myriad of things like border control, lockdown, etc and Scomo gave it to him. Scomo gave that up largely because he was crucified relentlessly for not being able to fight a bushfire (ie. State controlled things) so was happy to essentially actually make the states do something.

Since then its just spiralled out of control. Best thing for the country at this stage is a proper leader. Right now Australia would need a Mark Latham type hard ass who would whoop some ass. Instead we have 2 pushovers vying for who can be pushed over the quickest. The reason this will continue is because no matter how you dress this situation. Nothing will change as no change is near

I have noticed a fair amount of people who have taken issue with the lockdowns - and rightly so - also hold the opinion that people who refuse to get vaccinated are holding us back.

If you think that the severity of the virus does not warrant the lockdowns and the ridiculous over the top restrictions, then why would you also hold the view that a vaccination is necessary?
Divide and conquer strategy working a treat. Get folks to blame each other for lockdowns rather than the governments that implement them.

Not true RE: Andrews.

His government had done some infrastructure work that was sorely needed, thus why he got reelected easily. The LNP in Victoria is also useless.

Same as Mark in that sense. Reality is no one gives a ****ing crap about that stuff. Ive never heard someone on talkback radio saying "Well Im so glad Dan built a train station in Geelong, now all my problems are solved". People want things solved that actually matter. Things beingf

-House affordability (rentals included)
-Health and Education systems (basics for life)
-Envioronmental issues (ie, fires, flooding)
-Electricity and water prices (No ones done bugger all about this)
-General cost of living (a problem getting worse and not better)

When I go to the polling station I dont ask myself "Who will build the best train" I ask, who will fix the above. In the state systems the answer is always the same however. No-one. They are merely too powerless and or weak to do anything about these situations.

As I said, Andrews did some sorely needed infrastructure work, the level crossing removal project helps fix a number of issues. Not perfect, doesn't solve everything, but more than had been done for a long time. He got reelected comfortably on the back of that and a non-existent LNP presence.

Whether you like him or not, he'd done some things that people valued, and they voted accordingly.

Most of the issues in relation to housing affordability, utilities or cost of living aren't a State Government issue, but a function of other factors largely out of their control.

Does that include the contract that "wasn't worth the paper it was written on" that he ripped up. You know the one, it cost $1bn just to cancel it.

Other way round imo, theyre giving the ultra cautious health professionals too much power and ignoring other experts like economists, business owners etc

Your values are wrong and misaligned.

No offense but you come across as someone whose quite well off financially so your issues dont correlate necessarily to others. Im almost 100% certain if you do a poll in the Census about core political issues, more train stations and crossing removals isnt on that list

Food shortages are definitely coming, It's all part of their plan & this will be an issue worldwide.

A bit of a simplistic look Joey Jo Jo. Branch to the rest of the world

Gotta remember also in South Africa that the govt blocked off the roads, the crops rotted at the tree and they had to literally burn them to prevent salination issues.

Think about it. They are burning food, in Africa... In what way is that acceptable practice?

This problem is also 10 times worse in Brazil and Argentina who have the worst droughts in the history of collecting rain totals and food shipments blocked from key areas due to Covid concerns.

If that food can save thousands from starvation (which is fact really, food stops that) then the govt should tact that on to its Lockdown death total to compete with the Covid one. Lets see what kills more people

Starvation increased by lockdowns vs Covid

Unfortunately I know which horse wins that race :(

That contract was not at all signed in good faith by the outgoing party, so whilst I think it was a joke that the money was paid to not build the road, when the road is actually needed, the Andrews' Government was setup to fail by the outgoing Liberal Government as well given the plan and contract was a jobs for mates setup.

Ironically they're now building almost the same thing and calling it something else, to pretend like they didn't blow $1bn on something that needed to be built anyway.

Your values are wrong and misaligned.

So you - as usual - have no actual discussion points or commentary and just go the personal attack.

A number of the issues you raised aren't things the State Government can do much to address, whilst public transport and road congestion are very relevant to many people in their daily lives, as we saw by the seats won by the Andrews Government going UP from the previous election.

No offence, but you come across as someone who thinks they know a lot, but knows very little.
