Haven't seen the Dogs play in over two years now. Was looking forward to them coming to WA to face Freo next week, but that's looking to be in jeopardy now. Last game I went to was Freo vs Hawks earlier this year, so I would have really liked to see at least one quality team live at some point this year. fu** sake

Fly to Melbourne for a game once the Covid stuff settles down. You can crash at MD's joint.

Yeah it is a tough one. On the one hand, if you're a citizen of a country you should have every right to entry into that country. On the other hand, there are very, very, very few people who genuinely haven't had the chance yet to re-enter the country. It's been ~15 months of this, and we're at a point now where some countries are getting completely overrun by the virus. To expect entry now, when you didn't want it before, potentially at the expense of your own countrymen, is astonishingly selfish. Yes, they should perhaps have the right to entry, but personally I'm glad there's at least some resistance to allowing people back in.

As I understand it the 30k ( a figure that is a few months old) is only 10% of the number of Australians that are typically out of the country at any given time. So presumably most of those that wanted to return have, but given the numbers and the limited beds available it wouldn't surprise me if there is still a backlog.

Putting the diaspora currently awaiting a return aside. I think its a wider question as to who decides when people get to return to a country that they are a citizen of.

Personally, Im not comfortable having the decision in the hands of whatever politician happens to be in power at any particular point in time.

Right, vaccine available to those over 40. Where do they go to get this done?

Edit: Google to the rescue. Ascot Vale Showgrounds is probably closest to Footscray. Everybody rush there now if you’re eligible, please.
I registered a few days ago which means as soon as I'm eligible I should be notified. I Hope?
A friend in Canberra is under 50 but was vaccinated at the start of the week as she was on a 'reserve list' which meant at the end of the day if there are any no shows and there's leftover vaccines they take walk-ins.

I don't see how we get out of this shitshow until we reach a critical mass of vaccinated people. Feel so sorry for so many businesses impacted yet again.

The lack of urgency from many who are eligible to get vaccinated but haven't is alarming.

There's currently an unvaccinated 70 year old man in ICU with covid, someone who has had the chance to go in and get a shot for many weeks but for whatever reason has not. Let that be a warning shot, along with the lockdown. This cannot continue.

If there's a single vaccination slot available but unfilled over the next few weeks it should be handed immediately to someone aged under 40 who actually wants to take it but is being blocked out whilst many over 50s sit back and take their time.

Well there's your answer. They have never funded them for anything only exploited the elderly for their money.
29 facilities in Victoria haven't even had their first jab yet. I struggle to comprehend how Richard Colbeck still has his job as Aged Care Minister, his incompetence know no bounds, even Ned Guy got the flick.
Anyhoo Go Dogs!

Absolutely staggering. How is this even possible?

Problem isn't only at a State level or even with Government organisations, Church run aged care are amongst the worst at exploiting people. Nobody willing to take responsibility for it though and legislate properly just want to pass the blame somewhere else.

When you have a lazy, blame shifting, part time PM it’s little wonder.

One would think we should have a Royal Commission, or some such thing, into the whole schemozzle.

Also supply lines for vaccines are a federal responsibility too and they have failed dismally in that regard. They should have known there was going to be a short fall in vaccines available for import and had more facilities capable of producing vaccines here in Australia. They have had how many months to prepare for this? And they have done nothing but sit on their hands and blame the states when things go wrong even if it is their fault entirely.

Aged Care is Feds responsibility. They just said in Parliament that they were doing a wonderful job....

Queensland declares Victoria a hotspot
The Queensland Premier has declared Victoria a hotspot.

From 1:00am tomorrow, anyone who has been in Victoria in the last 14 days will have to hotel quarantine upon entering Queensland.

Cleary it’s totally Scomos fault that only one state continually has these issues and good Ol Danny is blameless as always. I mean how can you blame someone that doesn’t remember who he put in charge 🤷🏼‍♂️

Scomo and Andrews are as useless as each other and both need to be gone

This one came from SA hotel quarantine.

Why we are still using hotels in the middle of capital cities for quarantine is anyone's guess. We've had 15-18 months to come up with a better system, countless meetings between state and federal governments and we still end up in this shitshow.

Melbourne have released a statement that they expect all players and coaches will have there test results back in time for the game to go ahead tomorrow night, the player exposed to the tier 1 location will have to isolate for 14 days.
Sounds like the game will definitely go ahead

States seem really frustrated with the feds regarding this issue you can hear it in their voice every time whenever it is brought up.

Has anyone in their 40s got through on the vaccine line yet? Don’t bother as they are unable to take bookings.

Yes.
Wife booked her & I in for next week. Just a 2 minute wait to get through and she organised the Pfizer vaccine. We want to get the second shot earlier 21 day gap, so rather that one than AZ (12 week gap).
