Treloar could still be a late out and Garcia in. I guess intel is pretty good but if they are planning for Treloar to play and does not they will need to change tactics a little.

It has to be an off field decision, maybe he’s done something wrong? Even if he was leaving you still pick him on that form.

Truly perplexing. Next they’re not going to pick Bont.

Poor Garcia. The thing is though it's Sanders he has to replace positionaly. Dropping Sanders probably upsets a fair few too. I personally think Garcia provides more right now so I would be ok with it.

But on the flip side Sanders has been solid. Too quick to want give the responsibility away (eg handball to the closest player immediately). But that's a (understandable) confidence thing for a first year player. Now he seems to be gaining confidence so dropping him could achieve the opposite. Feels like there could be a big step up once/when Sanders really takes it on.

Some valiant efforts but overall it's a disappointingly low standard of melts tonight.

We're gonna lose.

He very much has a future, even more so than other young players stuck in the VFL (so I'm not dismissing his future as a player), I'm just surprised it's taken us 17 games to drop Harvey Gallagher for a team that's still pushing for finals and wants to win a flag for the here and now.

110 players have played most games (9+) this season and designated as midfidielers.

Gallagher's rank among these 110 players:

Player Ratings Points: 110th. 4.22 per game. 5-6 is considered "replacement level" (how good you should expect a new mature aged draftee or whatever to play). 0.75 points per game worse than the 109th ranked player (Nim Cox) which is a big difference when it's below 5. Many lower ranked players are sub more often too. His best 3 ratings points games also all game within his first 4 games, making his recent form even worse.

Funnily enough, he's actually gained points on goalkicking accuracy alone, so it's not a massive decrease to randomly missing a couple of very easy shots in a low sample size.

Disposals per clanger: 3.4 rank 110. Rank 109 4.3. Another huge difference than the 2nd worse of 110.

Supercoach points: 109th. Sam Banks 110th who is subs multiple times from exactly 9 games.

Intercept possessions: 1.3 per game. 110th

Contested possessions: 103rd. Everyone below or around him has basically never attended a centre bounce.

Disposal efficiency: 109th. Basically every player with the lowest have the highest contested ball rates among rhe midfield.

He's kicked 8 goals, which is not nothing, and metres gained is not the worst though still not great.

But Gallagher is simultaneously arguably the least productive ball winner as well as the worst ball user among all the 110 midfielders that have played meaningful minutes either on all or the wing this season, and basically every other player who plays two or three games (let alone 13 games, after his first 3 good games) at this level get dropped, simply because it falls below the typical level of AFL level irrespective of age/role/intangibles or whatever.

Again, this isn't to say that he doesn's have a future or we should expect more or less than any given young player playing well in the VFL. It's just that players of his output are typically just that, in the VFL, and it's strange for a competitive team playing finals to have carried that output for the majority of the season.

One game with Poulter in the team and we've gone straight to him, and Poulter has his flaws, but it's strange it's taken to this stage in the season to prefer one over the other.

Not great reading from a statistical perspective for Gallagher, and, personally, the eye test didn't seem to mitigate it. What are we missing?

Is there a defensive aspect that isn't readily apparent. Tackle, effective tackle, pressure acts and 1%ers stats and ratings within the 110?

Failing all else there's the compromising photos test. He would have done well on that one.
There can be no other explanation.

Garcia or his manager must have told us that he's gone at the end of the year, sure he killed us in the first half but he was the difference maker in the second and picking up 34 touches, 17 tackles and 2 goals is a huge return that needs to be rewarded.

 Yes, yes forgot about that. Case closed. Presumably the PI that Bevo hired to find the hard drive and usb(s) was successful and ...... well..... Gags is farked from this point on. If only he'd heard of the cloud. Oh well, enjoy your VFL career.
