Cotchin did really well in that contest and was clearly trying to avoid contact to the other guys head, he caught his arm and that player went off with a slight injury but it looked like Cotchin was avoiding higher contact and was unlucky, but was definitely going for the ball..

Ellis I haven't seen it yet..

As a neutral, my first thought during each incident was that Cotchin will be fine but Ellis could be in strife.

Good luck for next weekend and make sure you absorb every minute of the next week, it is a special time.

Cotchin: Was going for the ball. If he gets rubbed out, there will truckloads of chicken s*** outside AFL house.
Ellis: Did not look good, but the player showed no signs of concussion.

Ellis will definitely go. Bump to the head is a couple of weeks. Feel sorry for the bloke because it might be the only chance he gets to play in a GF.

Cotchin not so sure. His intention was to hit him hard which is fair play but he finished the game because of concussion arising from the bump.

If he didn't to have 2 strikes against him then it wouldn't be a worry but you can never tell with the MRP.

I hope he plays.

From reading on here people are split on Cotchin because of the 3 strike factor... I really hope we haven't got to the point where a captain misses a GF for something as innocuous as that.

Ellis seems like he may be in a bit more trouble, "scapegoat" is the word I keep hearing.

Nervy times but I hope common sense prevails...

Ok, so, Ellis..

It looks like he might have got the bump off before the giants player had fully turned face on, so the bump might have already occurred before it was high risk, it might just be a good old fashioned fend off bump...

Nervous couple of days I guess,

Cotchin treading a fine line between desperate and reckless. If he gets off it's only because of the grand final factor. Another fine means a suspension I heard on the wireless

Seriously???

A fine means a suspension???

Ok, so, whoever defends these cases, I hope they put up a great and logical defence...

Cotchin had his right arm held in tight for impact, and used his left to hit to ball to advanatge. he did this because Sheil had better position. So Cotch knocked him and moved the ball to advantage. high quality contested ball play. Sheil was unlucky. It wasn't even much of a hit. More like when Griff gets concussed in normal play. Could get pinged, but they'd be pushing the rules.

BEllis more of a problem. He wasn't going the ball and hit his man in the head.Nothing to it. But they might ping him.Hopefully more a fine than suspension.

If you watch the footage, Cotchin actually goes lower than Shiel. Don't think it was a case of him being reckless, just two guys going hard for a ball in dispute, which Cotch won and Shiel came off worse for wear. You'd hope it's deemed incidental contact then, but with the muppets at the MRP, you never know :drunk:

Stolen from main board.
that's the tricky bit here. Delayed onset of concussion, how can we be sure that it was a direct result of cotchin's bump, and not as in that clip astbury holding his ground front on. Tribunal would be VERY interesting if an onset concussion rubbed a player out and the defence was to argue that point
