Could this be Collingwood's big year?

Despite the Pies hitting the lead, I think today shows why they are not a genuine threat..

Premierships arent won in April. They're 2-0 now, they can fumble and stumble and play poorly all they want but if they get enough wins to make top four and get some form going in to September, they will be a geniune threat.

Collingwood are a good team but no way near the Level of St Kilda or Geelong lets be honest. No way they can win the premiership.

Collingwood's big year?

Jolly - bust. Plays well in a good system. Shit player.
Thomas - good skills, body is too small
Davis - heart the size of a pea
Fraser - chronically injured, his knee is gone.
Ball - body is broken down.
Maxwell - good leader, terrible defender.
Lee Brown - Worst player in the AFL.
Sidebottom - too small
Beams - too small
John Anthony - one trick pony
Ben Johnson - knee
Toovey - just gets a game
Travis Cloke - goes missing when the pressure is on
Medhurst - inconsistent

Shaw, Swan, Didak, O'Brien, Lockyer, Pendlebury - all good players

They have NO big bodied midfielders. Luke Ball and he's useless now. You can't win a Premiership without those. Bulldogs, Saints, Hawthorn, Geelong all have big bodied grunt midfielders. Sorry but Collingwood have no chance this year. They will get smacked in the finals as usual.

Jolly has been nothing short of crap in his first two weeks. He'll get better, obviously, but he's struggled badly so far. Ball's been quiet too and has turned it over a bit.

Disappointing to see that Melbourne could apply the required pressure to Collingwood, and we couldn't last week. Lot of positives for Dees moving forward but they have to start winning games of footy.

Exactly right, last weeks game against the Dogs was very fast energy sapping game for a lot of the day, the Pies did what they had to do to win. Melbourne won't be as bad as first thought, and did ok in the 2nd half last week.

Using the Round 1 logic that you can't read anything into the Carlton victory against Richmond because we only won by 56 points...

We very well can't think it's going to be the Pies big year if they fell over the line against the Dees?;)

damn

bulldogs beat st.kilda and they were premiership favourite

collingwood beat the dogs and all of a sudden they were premiership favourites

so that means melbourne was 1 point away from being the premiership favourites? lol

Very well said. How anyone can think their list is good enough to win a premiership the way it is is beyond me.

Watching the live play animation on the AFL site was pretty fun, every time, and I mean every time, Luke Ball touched the footy this particular word shone out.

Ineffective.

If Pies fans really believe his acquisition will propel them to a flag they are dreaming, and it seems Jolly hasnt found his feet either.

Contenders squash sides like the Dees.

Pies will make up the numbers again.

I wouldn't say 'no way' they can win it, but Collingwood have shown time and again that they get ahead of themselves very easily.

Melbourne put them to the sword today and should've got the points.

Medhurst and Thomas LOL.
Disgracefull.

Feeling for Melbourne supporters, deserved to win today. Davie must be the best kick in the league neally? He barely misses a target.

I think its easy to not get up for a game against as side that you should beat easily. They will be around in the second last week of the finals and anything can happen after that.

Well when the umps keep helping them out each year & they get the best travel draw each year, it's always going to be close to their big year. Would be nice to see them earn it the same as every other team.

It's clear that losing the Tarrant trade might be the difference between winning a premiership or not.

More useful up forward than Cloke. A far far better defender than both Brown and Reid who looked completely lost and out of his depth against a no-name Melbourne forward line.

Jolly and Ball also useless. Should avoid trade week from now on.

Found a way to win so who cares, obviously we need to win something like 20 straight because thats a good indication of whether you will win a flag. O wait the saints didnt win last year. Oops

Played shit , still won. Pies supporters are happy , pies players get a real wake up. At the end of the day its 4 points.
