Could this be Collingwood's big year?

It's clear that losing the Tarrant trade might be the difference between winning a premiership or not.

More useful up forward than Cloke. A far far better defender than both Brown and Reid who looked completely lost and out of his depth against a no-name Melbourne forward line.

Jolly and Ball also useless. Should avoid trade week from now on.

To be better than cloke up forward is no real mean feat when you are a 28 29 year old. Tarrant in his last few years at the pies was no better, plus he didnt even want to be at collingwood , so it was really a win trade for the pies regardless, medhursts few years at the pies have been far better than tarrants at freo.

Yes, if the umpires have anything to do with it. Oh wait, they already have. If this game results in Collingwood making the top four or having some advantage in the finals an investigation should be launched.

Well when the umps keep helping them out each year & they get the best travel draw each year, it's always going to be close to their big year. Would be nice to see them earn it the same as every other team.

What... you mean like having to play Geelong, St Kilda, Bulldogs and Hawthorn twice...

Ok then:thumbsu:

Found a way to win so who cares, obviously we need to win something like 20 straight because thats a good indication of whether you will win a flag. O wait the saints didnt win last year. Oops

Played shit , still won. Pies supporters are happy , pies players get a real wake up. At the end of the day its 4 points.

Well done, u beat last years wooden spooners by 1pt with assistance from the umpires, ur going really well

The umpires found a way to win it for you ..joke of a team and embarrassed for any supporter who accepts a cheating win like that .

So that means they'll need alot of investigation into the treatment of Reiwoldt week in week out!

FWIW - IMO the umpires from today should be sacked immediately... nothing made any sense at all

Still can't get over the holding ball decisision where the Melb player was pinged as soon as he was grabbed and before he had his chance to get the handball off...that was dodgy.
The bump to Neon in his side, hip and shoulder...called in the back after he dove. many many more.

yeh cos Collingwood are such a great finals side.

Not up there with the top six, will battle it out for 7th or 8th. Umps and easy draw will get them there i suspect.

Collingwood tossers. They are not a contender for the flag after that shitty performance. Sure they won by a point to the shittest side in the comp but they almost erased the win last week to the dogs.

At least when we have injuries we can still manage to make the finals, last two years are good indications of that. Hawks on the other hand had all the excuses flying last year and when you really have a good look, they still had a lot of key players in their team through out the year.

Have finished 4th 6th and 4th the last few years , so i cant see us slipping. Not that its anything to brag about , anything less than a flag is a fail. Just depends how big a fail.

We have one of the hardest draws this year , so you will be eating your own words, when we still make the top 4 and push for a flag.

The umpiring was bad... but your post is just as bad.

I love this!

Collingwood win by a point to easily the worst team in the past few seasons and it's....great to get the 4 points, hard to get fired up for these type of games, we're all happy!!!!

It's funny how when Carlton smashed Richmond everyone said that the opposition was $hit.

Collingwood are going nowhere with the likes of Lee Brown, John Anthony, Fraser, Cloke, Toovey and Wellingham. Oh and Maxwell.....does anyone actually rate that dud??

I hate Collingwood as much as anyone but for ****'s sake it's April.

Those that don't think the Pies will be nearabouts towards the end of September are kidding themselves.

On a side note, Brisbane were slammed for selling their future by giving away bugger all for their new recuits. Picks 14 and 30 are looking damn expensive for Jolly and Ball.

Collingwood's big year?

Jolly - bust. Plays well in a good system. Shit player.
Thomas - good skills, body is too small
Davis - heart the size of a pea
Fraser - chronically injured, his knee is gone.
Ball - body is broken down.
Maxwell - good leader, terrible defender.
Lee Brown - Worst player in the AFL.
Sidebottom - too small
Beams - too small
John Anthony - one trick pony
Ben Johnson - knee
Toovey - just gets a game
Travis Cloke - goes missing when the pressure is on
Medhurst - inconsistent

Shaw, Swan, Didak, O'Brien, Lockyer, Pendlebury - all good players

They have NO big bodied midfielders. Luke Ball and he's useless now. You can't win a Premiership without those. Bulldogs, Saints, Hawthorn, Geelong all have big bodied grunt midfielders. Sorry but Collingwood have no chance this year. They will get smacked in the finals as usual.

Jolly - Plays well in a good system? Do collingwood not have a good system? Has one bad game and now is no good, excellent assessing there. Thomas - Good skills, body too small?? You could be describing guys like Mitchell, Davey, Power too name a few. So fail.
Davis - no heart? He was the main difference for the pies in the final quarters.
Fraser - his not injured so I don't understand that statement.
Ball - Again Ball was not injured and played more than last week.
Maxwell - Yes his a good leader and no he is not a terrible defender. Today he made some blues but even the best of them make mistakes. Having Prestigiacomo out doesn't help.
Sidebottom - again with the too small, he wasn't too small to save the game in the last seconds when his last ditch spoiled saved the game.
Beams - again with too small... are you dwarf? Do you have inferiority complex, were you need to now vent out against AFL players. By the way how do you rate Foley?
John Anthony - actually Anthony is a no trick pony but he scored 2 goals in a 1 point win.
Toovey - even here you say 'just gets a game' and you still fail. After today he should be dropped.
Cloke - He isn't going missing because pressure is on he just isn't playing very well so far. Not presenting enough, not enough one percenters, etc..
Medhurst - inconsistent, yes one correct sir.

Of those players you said are good players Didak was poor today and Swan was nullified by Macdonald. Swan is certainly no Ablett. Swan and Lockyer although they had a bit of the ball they were hardly damaging with disposal.

I do agree that Collingwood just lack that extra bit to make them a premiership side, although I wouldn't discount their chances. If things go there way, other teams have injuries, get favorable umpiring decisions, then there still a good chance.

What... you mean like having to play Geelong, St Kilda, Bulldogs and Hawthorn twice...

You guys should be ok. Every other team you play has flown up and back across australia a few times when the most difficult trip your team will have had is getting stuck in a bit of traffic on the way to the game

Ill highlight the ones that would get a game at the blues, for a team that has two focal points in a sub ten gamer in henderson and a 27 year old irishman, i think brown anthony and cloke would get a game quite easily.

Toovey would be borderline ill be honest

Fraser is nowhere near good enough to take eitheir of your ruck spots.

Wellingham wouldnt go that bad in the blues side, would probably add a lot more in terms of defensive pressure in the midfield which is something the blues lack.

Maxwell was AA so im pretty sure people do rate him , he would be great at the blues and probably woulda given the help jamo and thornton needed with a third man up to kill the contest against the lions the other night, which is probably what cost you guys the game , missed bower lots

You realise it doesnt shock pies supporters that we nearly lose to 'underrated' teams or even lose , we have been doing it forever that i can remember. So why wouldnt we be happy if we get the 4 points , better than losing isnt it ?

As long as you dont meet the Dee's in the finals.

Seriously though, You had a full strength team, Melbourne didnt and you still needed the umps to get you over the line. the pies are known for occasionly playing above themselves the 07 premil and the 80 pt win over the cats in 08 for example. thats what rd 1 was.

There wasnt 6 clearly better sides than Collingwood in the last 3 years, this year there is. 7th at best.

And they got some dirt in their eye, and the umps were against them and the wind turned around on them and their biorhythms were off and..

if you can find physical proof of any dogs supporter, player or Rodney Eade saying anything like that apart from the umpires bit, then we shall eat humble pie...
