Sky News last night said he struggled to keep up and they interviewed a fan who said he didn't look right. I guess people take what they want out of these things according to motive and expectation.

The jealousy is hard to hold back isn't it?

I was at the game and I was in awe at Cousins, he genuinely made the rest of our team look like headless chooks.

Except Deledio, he might win the Brownlow this year.

Whose jealousy ... the reporter or the Tigers fan who commented?

I only saw the one story on this after reading BF during the day. I was expecting a similar account and they went the other way.

I have seen 'starred', seen 'mixed reviews', seen upbeat comments from Tigers coaches and have seen one that said he strugged. As I said, people will comment according to what their own expectations are. The Tigers fan obviously expected the running machine messiah and got a half game hitout with perhaps a bit of lack of match fitness showing through. Others might have expected just a few runs and a couple of cobwebs to be blown out but got more than that and were suitably impressed. Either way, I didn't see it so am not in a position to judge. Just reporting that they are reporting it in different ways.

I was game and in the first quarter he only got a kick or two from what I saw.

In the 2nd Quarter he had like 10 possies. The thing is though, was not the number of possies but the quality of possies!!

He delivered a couple of 50+ mtre kicks after bursting through packs and hit players on the chest.

Skill, this bloke oozes it, just needs fitness up. Look forward to a better 2nd half of the year from him.

cousins will be great for richmond, everyone will be kicking themselves that they had their head up their arses when they knocked him back.

At Carlton the believe in teamwork, so they're kicking each other.

I don't care much if Cousins does well, or not both on or off field, I'm honest when I say that unlike a lot of the fake caring going on here and elsewhere.

So he was out of the game since the end of 2007, so what, it was entirely his own doing.

More important is the return of a guy like Polak, now he deserves attention and praise if he makes it back to playing AFL footy, way more deserving of praise that Cousins who deserves little praise.

Guys like Trent Hentschel from the Crows too, Trent being out of the game since 2006, looks like so far that he will make his return to AFL footy this season after his horrific knee and leg injury, but I doubt there will anywhere as much reporting on that compared to a druggo like cousins, and I doubt there will be anywhere near as much reporting on Polak either.
cousins is a brownlow winner. people know how good he was and just want him to get back to his best. plus ben has had many setbacks. polak might noot play this year but best to him. it is tragic for guys like trent hentschel, to find some form and the get a mojor injury, then followed up by another one. but its the luck of the game.

Probably pretty right at this stage. He's fit, but not match-fit and still has to be adjusted to the flow of the game again. Luckily he's still got about 7 weeks until round 1 to pick that back up. :thumbsu:

See you in seven weeks. I don't like your chances sans Stevens and now Carrazo versus a midfield juggernaut including BOG Cousins, Deledio, Coughlan (38 possesion v Blues circa 2005 and back in town), Foley, Tuck and we hope a fit Cotchin

At Carlton they believe in harden the f*** up, O'Hailpin took it a litte too seriously....

I still wouldn't take too much confidence out of this Tigers fans, he's fit ATM yes but he's had 4 hammy problems in his last 15 games or something ridiculous like that, i've heard.

Maybe your mob can get withing 5 goals of us this game..unlike the last time the two sides met ..and the great man Judd never even played that day .

Not suprised he only went half pace, as full pace will equal...TWANG!

What is it? 5 Hammys in his last 17 games.

Will be ugly! But good lck off the field Benny.:thumbsu:

Is that stat correct? 5 hammy's in his last 17 games?

I wouldnt definitely have to disagree with you mark. Ben is an absolute star of a footy player and so what if he likes to have a good time every now and again. He knows his limits and thats what still makes him a good footballer. If he was stupid hed have ended up in hospital or dead. As long as he can kick a footy ben should be able to do whatever he likes recreationally, whether its legal or not. I mean its not like we havent tried anything illegal before. Give the guy a break..

I agree that what he does in his own time should be his own business...but to say "he knows his limits"?? This is the guy with an admitted drug addiction? Fair to say he doesn't know his limits. At all.

No surprise to see Cuz tearing it up. If he can keep the soft-tissue injuries at bay, and the personal issues of course, he'll be the recruit of the year by a mile.

It was bittersweet for me to see Ben playing the other day. I would love nothing more than for him to be still playing for the Eagles - but I am really happy to see him fit and well. Good on Richmond for taking the chance. A fit Ben will ensure the Tigers make the finals for the first time in a long time - and nothing would be better than if it was at the expense of the Juddas lead Carlton cheats.
