The Golden Mile includes a perfectly cromulent Officeworks, and The Sports Injury Clinic where I sometimes refer patients. I wouldn’t want to live there, or stay in the Ambassador, but it’s not exactly a warzone. May seem that way to Ms. Judd however.
That's right - it was the Ambassador, not the International that had the non-bouncy carpet.

Is that clinic adjacent to the Ambassador? If so, my great-grandparents owned a lovely Victorian next door, since demolished.

They've actually demolished the Ambassador as well, I think. Such is progress.

No, that area ain't so bad. It has a large number of cheap units, which attracts large numbers of various types of substance abusers, but they mostly keep to themselves.

Edit: Just checked, there's a sport medicine clinic further up, on the same side as Ambassador, not the place I was thinking of.

I think you may be thinking of the Lifecare physio clinic on the opposite side of the road to the Ambassador. The Sports Injury Clinic is perhaps three doors down from Officeworks, same side of the road but towards Frankston.

I haven't visited that part of Frankston in quite a while, and doubt I will again.

A swathe of houses have been demolished for bayside 'loft living', including the one I lived in for most of my life. Call me nostalgic, because I am, and I just don't want to see the physical obliteration of my childhood.

A little bit LNP of you to be sentimental about real estate.

The EOD tech who discovered and retrieved the remains was less than happy with the REMF who placed this fallen warrior in harm's way.

Impressive use of TLAs and FLAs there Swipey.

We rented from the same landlord, two generations of my family paying $35 pw from the late 60s to the early 90s.

Then the old landlord got married to a young woman who took a strong interest in his assets, tipped him off about a thing called inflation.

He asked us for something close to the market rate. We felt betrayed and upped stumps.

A good deal for so long, hard not to be sentimental about it.

Nice story - only joshing. The thing I reckon ppl get sentimental about with houses is the memories of the past - shocker. The memories "exist" whether or not the house exists, and no more new memories would be created at the old place even if it was still there. Opens up a metaphysical can of worms.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
Fixed for you. Can't let The Ode be incorrect-my late father would be furious.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

Still nice when that trip down memory lane still has things that trigger your memory.

Cheers. That’s what I get for trying to quote by memory.

I know you were only joshing. You didn't know that I new you were only joshing? When did I become the super-serious guy?

It can be argued that the pull and power of memory is more powerful in the absence of the presence of the house, just like the inability to form new memories in old age often sharpens the recollection of the distant past.

But I liked that the house was there. It had a character of its own.

Less the super-serious guy, more a bit of a sentimental fop.

Thoughts and prayers to Bec.

Alright, no prayers, but definitely some thoughts.

Can always find a stat that suits. The Oz reports that the Victorian Crimes Statistics Agency (who?) stated that there were 105 aggravated residential burglaries in Brighton in 2021. Four times higher than in 2014.

I think you are above that Twitter account. “Crime is lower thanks to Dan Andrews”? Is that because he stopped pinching things?

How dare you admonish me.

I am most certainly not above a Twitter account if it contributes to my entertainment.

As for Bec, I eagerly await her manipulated evidence.

I doubt that Dan has stolen much from Brighton residents, other than the comfort pillow of having a good chap as Premier.
