Tried so many times, still can't understand the level of love for this one.
Framed #84
🎥 🟥 🟥 🟩 ⬛ ⬛ ⬛

I think it's more about the way it was made, the back stories behind that, the cast and acting, and a few classic lines. I don't think it's great story telling.

After one and done on Worldle, to miss Framed on the back of that last pic, well, let's just say you have had a mixed day.

Yeah I really have to start putting four quarters together.

Too farkin cold to surf now, hate steamers, and got a week at home with the Covid ☹️ Been catching up on some reading and begun watching GoT from the start again, pretty crazy looking back at them then.
Granddaughter flys home from Germany in a couple of weeks so we heading up at the end of the month to see her again 🥰 Booked some tickets for the fam to watch the Pies play GC from the Skyline Terrace. Anyone done that at all it sound alright.
Just put a slow cooked hungarian goulash on for dinner and it smells awesome already.
Still can’t bring myself to Wordle.

This Sunday: George 'Ferocious' Kambosos v Devin Haney. I'll put the shredded sadness of my credibility on the line and suggest that Haney will win a comfortable decision.

If he had more knockout power, it'd be over sooner than that.

This is George. As you can see, he has truly mastered the look of what he thinks a serious and tough fighter should look like.

He's active in the ring, not sure about ferocious. No big punch. Modest skillset.

And yet he became the lightweight champion of the world by beating the touted Teofimo Lopez in NYC last year. So kudos to anyone who gets the best out of themselves and overcomes the odds.

But the Odyssey ends this weekend, I think.

The bookies agree with you. Hope he is getting a big payday out of this. I am always stunned by how these guys make weight. 176cm for Kambosos and 175 for Haney (although the stare off didn't look like that unless the latter was wearing stilettos) yet they can get themselves to 61kg.

For some fighters, the grind of trying to make weight is almost as harsh as fighting itself. Jeff Fenech was a case in point.

In Devin Haney's case, it's clear that his slovenly work ethic is balanced by many hours in the sauna...

A lot of them get really weird with food. I've got a friend who was a national kickboxer, no longer fighting so his food weirdness is now not to make weight. I'll go to his house and he'll say things like I forgot to eat yesterday, whilst he has a bowl of 8 hard boiled eggs with sri racha sauce and nothing else - his one meal for the day.

A lot of talk after the Lopez fight that Lopez had a severe injury and should have postponed or cancelled. Pneumomediastinum. Doc: Lopez 'lucky he's not dead' after Kambosos

I am skeptical of Kambosos’ talent as champion, but good luck to him for making every post a winner.

I am no medico but that sounds like something that would have made last 12 round pretty hard? Not that I am doubting anything that comes out of the fight game.

If I was managing Kambosos I would have opted for the Rocky IV strategy. Get a bunch of easy ones before ending up against Clubber Lang.

If it’s legit, it would absolutely root your endurance. You’d be doing well to fight a couple of rounds and very susceptible to getting hit.

That article read like sour grapes from a sympathetic journo. Full disclosure: I have a heavy bag that I use for about 20 minutes about once a fortnight - invariably with a hangover - so I consider myself a bit of an expert on what is and isn't possible when fighting in tough conditions.

Edit: heavy bags do hit back when you have a hangover.

It was Rocky III. How could you forget the homoerotic lovefest of Apollo helping the Italian Stallion to rediscover the 'eye of the tiger'?

The seaside frolic? The 'rhythm' sessions in front of the mirror, Apollo leading the dance and Rocky (very close) behind?

Lopez came on strong later in the fight, put Kambosos down and had him in trouble, so I'm not sure how that squares with such a severe injury.

Agree on George, though...he doesn't have a whole lot going for him, but with the phenomenal amount of work he has done very well for himself.

So embarrassed by that error. How do you rank the 4 movies? 2 was the clear worst. I say 1, 3, 4, 2.

With apologies to 4 because it ended the Cold War.

Same order.

When I was first watching the movies in the 80s, Rocky III was a standout favourite.
- Hulk Hogan
- Mr T/Clubber Lang being generally mean
- Mick dies
- Rocky loses a fight, befriends an enemy to get his mojo back
- Paulie makes racist remarks in a gym full of black fighters
- Rocky's redemption

But you older and realise that the original Rocky is a superior story and better movie.

You neglected to note that Apollo preferred to call Rock, “Stallion”.

The rewatchables podcast just did 3. You would enjoy it.

Original Rocky is genuinely a decent flick. Obviously the rest were trash but the third the best. Mr. T made that film.
Special mention to Apollo getting killed by the Russian in the fourth. That was comedy gold.

Don’t forget Clubber propositioning Adrian. To exhibit his true evil.

The Hulkster also a racist. Never liked him.
Crap wrestler who couldn’t hold a candle to Randy Savage.
