Orange roughy is bad, but tastes good. Unsustainable - you shouldn't buy it. You might be eating a poor little fishy that was very old. But at least you will be able to tell the temperature without a thermometer with the amount of mercury you might be about to ingest.
ah - I could use the orange roughy to test if I had a Covid-19 fever - 2 birds with one fillet?

Pedant. :p

I thought ‘merrily’ added a bit of 19th century flavour. This board lacks 19th century awareness, although salted cod is heading in the right direction.
I liked your combination, but merrily and dis port was too repetitive when Jackcass made it about the drink. Ports all about your merry drunk uncle with a ridiculously red bulbous nose meerrily wishing you a merry Christmas.

gar is good - I get my fishmonger to butterfly the gars - eliminates issues with tiny bones

I wouldn't eat it in Melbourne, due to the bones, but the Adelaide ones must swim in a reservoir of steroids. Those fillets are big like flathead (my personal favourite).

I resemble that remark!

Get some nice big gars along the east coast of Tassie. Sometimes even get them in your bait grab-all nets. There okay to eat other than aforementioned bones.

My word for the day is disport. As in, she merrily disported herself when she saw her place rising on the Gimp ladder.
Or as in disport is called Australian Rules.

Have you watched Afterlife? Very good

Yes a long time back. I like Ricky Gervais. I actually binge watched 10 episodes of 'Never have I ever' today and loved it. My dog walking got cancelled so I had more time to kill than I thought.

There is absolutely no way Australians would be microchipped and no party would be foolish enough to suggest it because they would sit in the election wilderness forever. It's never going to happen. Not here.
I hope you are right.
But let me give you an example from some of the conspiracy theorist. They claim something along the lines of this.

A vaccine will be found, people who want to travel, go to the footy etc will need to prove that they have been vaccinated in order to travel, attend football games etc, this will be done in the form of a chip. Of course this is to protect people right? We don't want contaminated people in a footy crowd or on a plane. It's a good thing for us all. So no chip no travel.

You want to travel TGG but the only way to do it is with a chip which proves you have been vaccinated. Will you do it. It's a great idea right. You would have absolute peace of mind because on the plane or at the MCG you know everyone is vaccinated. They have been scanned on entry. This is for your good.

An interesting poser?

If someone is a constant wet blanket engulfed in non stop whinging would that wear you down?

I watched the first 2 episodes of Messiah the other night, looks promising and is on Netflix.
But is he a very naughty boy!

Love Jane Austen!
So do I and I am male. Not being sexist but I would imagine her books with their feminine central characters would be considered more women's domain but I loved the insight she gave into the way of life of the idle rich, swanning between their country and city homes and being so ****ing polite and formal all the time. And the poor women having to acquire music, vocal and conversational skills in order to impress men. The courting system resembled a human meat market. Life before the invention of TV and radio left people with lots of hours in the day to fill with afternoon teas, walks, musical presentations, polite conversation and occasional balls. I bet there were times they would have appreciated having Netflix available. Liked everyone of her books.

I think affirmation is the big one and I think it is pretty scary in terms of social harmony and political discussion. The internet was supposed to open us up to a far wider range of thoughts and ideas, but the reality is that you can now spend all day reading things that affirm your view, so you never need to question your own views. Then once you start reading the things you agree with, the twitter and google algorithms that are tracking your viewing habits kick in, and they start pushing more stuff towards you that affirms your view. Research on media - traditional and social - in Israel/Palestine suggests there is almost no crossover of sources between the two groups. Israelis read pro-Israel stuff and Palestinians read pro-Palestine stuff, so both sides become more and more convinced of their own truths. And it's happening on all issues, all of a sudden, you've surrounded yourself with agreement, your view becomes unquestionable and anyone who thinks differently is a complete idiot.
If you own shares, there's an Australian site Hot Copper which has forums with threads on every one of the ASX shares. It's actually dangerous to read the threads because 95% of the posts are by owners of that stock all largely praising the company and its chances, affirming their decision to buy shares in it. It becomes a circle jerk and discussion seems to ignore or downplay any negatives, and leaves you feeling pretty positive about your purchase. Then when the company has a huge fall from grace due to a variety of reasons, suddenly you are all too aware of the meaning of the acronym DYOR. It's dangerous.

I binge watched that a couple of months back and really enjoyed it. The critics canned it but viewers like it. I couldn't stop watching it and had several late nights with it. Persevere with it.

My favourite Netflix series would have to be Crown. With 3 series and so many lengthy episodes, it would have been great to have discovered it during this dreadful isolation period.
