Wife returned a positive RAT. The last time we went through this it was a false positive, but this time the symptoms are worse and the line was much more obvious, so I don't think we've dodged the bullet this time.

She still got a PCR this morning to confirm given the false positive last time.

Son and I are symptom free. So far.

Decent rise in hospitalisations today, seems obvious to me restrictions and masks will be back after the election.
Were not going to have any masks or whatnot. Nearly 20% of the population have now been infected. It's probably higher as well. What tends to happen when it starts getting closer to 25% it begins to plateau.

Unless there's a variant that is far deadlier either you'll catch it or you'll have to be extremely diligent in not catching it. And that's by wearing masks and not leaving the house cos right now nearly everyone I know has caught it or has it.

PCR came back positive :( And now I'm feeling like shite (headache, scratchy throat, runny nose, cough) but just had a negative RAT so I dunno.

Oh 100% but my plan if/when I catch it, is to accept a positive RAT given my wife's positive PCR, cos then I don't have to make my way to the local testing centre (which isn't all that local).
Sorry, I thought you meant you had tested positive with a PCR but tried to confirm with a RAT. But it was your wife who was positive.

I'm with you now.

The government has stated that even at 300+ hospitalisations yesterday, that is still under the modelling that guided the opening of borders and relaxation of restrictions. It should be noted that the hospitalisation figure also includes people in hospital for unrelated reasons but have happened to test positive to COVID.

I don't think any restrictions would be reintroduced except for a widening of the mask mandate to say indoor ticketed events. It's under control here and we are rapidly approaching a level of herd immunity.

They date back to the start of the month though don't they?

Quite probably. They do due dilligence on each death to make sure Covid was the cause before announcing them. All the big days have been with backdated cases. But 14 announced in a day is a lot.

As I said...hopefully it's a one off.

That seems to be the norm from others I've spoken to. As RATs measure viral load you have to be a certain amount sick/have it in your system for a certain amount of time for it to test positive.

Hope it's a quick recovery 👍

Thanks mate.

Kinda glad we've both caught it now. Less than a month before Baby 2 so to get this out of the way is a big plus.

When wife got the PCR result she registered for Covid at Home because she qualifies being pregnant. I guess they're under the pump atm because they only got back to her today. They had a good long chat which was good, they're sending her one of those blood oxygen testing machines. She was quite bad yesterday but is improving today. Fingers crossed. Her obstetrician also called yesterday after she had to postpone her scheduled appointment, so that was nice.

I'm not as bad, so far it's like a bad cold. I've had worse illnesses, but for my wife, she described yesterday as the worst she's ever felt. Not at "needing hospitalisation" levels but I was on high alert in case I had to call an ambulance.

Son is still symptom free the little trooper. He's 4, so unvaccinated, so I'm stressed for him too.

Good to hear your wife is feeling better! I totally get the anxiety around having little ones not approved for the vaccine. I live in that world too. For my wife and I, we aren't too fussed about getting Covid, it's more about how do we operate as a household and how bad is it going to mess with our little ones, baby especially, if we get it. For now it's proving easier to continue to avoid it!

My wife had a faint positive on a RAT yesterday. Went and got a PCR test. That came back negative. Then did a RAT test today, strong positive. Still has to get a PCR test as she's a teacher and the Ed dept are demanding it if there's "conflicting" results. It better come back positive for she'll spit it. She's sick as a dog too.

Oldest son tested positive Sunday. Both on nasal and lollipop RAT tests (very faint on the lolly, super strong on the nasal). I've heard the lollipop tests are useless and rarely work.

I've got some headcold symptoms now, expecting I'll be positive in a few days. Youngest is milking it for all it's worth to get to stay home.

We sound in the same boat.

My son was.crook on monday morning so wife took him for a PCR after.the RAT was negativd.

Her result came back negative the following morning, but didnt recieve my sons result untill 9pm tuesday which was positive. Coincidently we did another RAT on him just before recieving his PCR and that came back positive instantly.

Wife was freaking out as shes 7 months pregnant also. She started getting symptoms that day so she did a rat again and that was positive.

My daughter, whos 2 tested positive today around lunchtime. She has a slight temp and cough. Apart from that she is ok.

My son had very high fevers for 2 days, runny/stuffy nose and cough, was vomiting on the monday. He fared a little worse than my daughter but fingers crossed hes on the other side now.

My wife however is suffering similar symptoms from her second vax. Migraine like headaches, temp, joint aches, vomiting and the runs.

Im somehow the last man standing so will see how it goes.

Another case record today but only just. I think all the people doing the right thing and masking up with no mandate will probably mean new mandates are unnecessary.

I've seen so many people wearing masks this week that I just assume people not wearing them in the shops have already had Covid.

Importantly though, hospitalisations have dropped.

Think this will be the usual numbers we'll see every year - perhaps higher in future COVID seasons as vaccine mandates get dropped. Welcome to COVID endemic life.
