Couldnt see a thread up which surprised me

Best day of the spring in my opinion

So what are people's tips for the main race and any of the other races

I like Whobegotchu its amazing how short So You Think is

"SUCH is the hype surrounding So You Think's invincibility in this Saturday's Cox Plate, one corporate bookmaker will pay all bets on him to win - five days before the race.

Sportsbet.com.au this morning announced they will pay out on all bets they have taken so far on So You Think to win the Cox Plate - totalling more than $250,000.

Presently, So You Think is a $1.50 favourite to win.

The biggest bet is $7000 the win at $11 for a collect of $77,000.

It is a first for Australian racing with a bookmaker paying out on a result before the race has been run."

My favourite day of the year (equal with AFL GF day!).

Can't see Bart's horse being beaten.

He towelled up Whobe last year and has clearly improved since then.
Will either lead or sit outside More Joyous, dictate when the tempo gets increased and be far too good.

Hard to see SYT being beaten but then again stranger things have happened, don't know about SYT over 2 mile for the Melb Cup.

Whobe and Zipping the dangers, although the mare is an unknown. Of the older horses in Cox Plates, the ones with the proven Valley form are generally the ones who perform well in Cox Plates.

Big query whether More Joyous can sustain her brilliance over the 2040m given Arnold will put the handlebars down from the 600 on the favourite.

I'm all over Wall Street....very impressive horse with massive scope.

I hate when Sportsbet do this...unless I was on him ofcourse...It's basically an advertising fee for them, so it doesnt hurt them too much, but would love to see SYT get beaten...

I love the underdog, so hopefully SYT get trodden on or something or misses the kick....

syt will kill this

i love the Cox Plate - I totally agree with others, it's the best racing day, ney, best sporting day of the year I think. It'll be on tv again for me this year - every year i load up on one horse in the Caulfield Cup and promise myself that if it gets over the line then I'll drive down to Melbourne for the Plate. Shocking joins a long line of horses to let me down... :(

I just can't fathom that So You Think has been as short as $1.50, i find that ridiculous given Shoot Out, Whobegotyou (Valley specialist) and particularly More Joyous are all still nominated.

Certainly, even money odds would be fair enough, but $1.50? Crazy.

I've been on More Joyous since her third run ($31), so I hope it isn't so cut and dried!

(would be laughing if I had've taken So You Think a month ago given Sportsbet is the bookie i use most)

Wait so someone already collects 77k?

Loving life if you were them, especially if SYT gets rolled. :thumbsu:

****. I have an account with sportsbet but decided to use sportingbet to get So You Think @ 2.40 a couple of weeks back. Should have gone with sportsbet

Anyway, I think I will be loading up on the champ come Saturday.

if i was the guy picking up the $77,000 i would be going straight to Betstar and taking the $1.5 to turn the $11 into $17s effectively

cant believe this to be honest

horses can fallover, hurt themselves at track work - just a publicity stunt i guess

Anyone else beleive Avienus shouldn't be in the field?

In the past, the MVRC have set a standard of only including horses with proven Group 1 form (generally a Gp 1 placing is required). They went away from this last year by including SYT even though he had finshed 5th in the Guineas.

Surely Avienus finishing down the track in her only Gp 1 start in the Toorak doesn't really qualify as being up to Cox Plate standard?

Thoughts?

Avienus could lead which makes it interesting especially if they're are two or three up front and a bit of pressure is put on SYT.....who cares get it in there....More horses the better IMO

Will you still have the same opinion if your horse runs up Avienus' backside when she starts going backwards at the 600?

Whats wrong with having a horse in the race that makes the speed....It's hardly a donkey...No problem with it at all. They have more of an idea than I do.

Like you said SYT finished 5th in the Guineas...what precedent are you setting??

Yee-ah, pacemakers ftw! Bring back Paraca! ... anyhoo.

She's been in 4 group races for only 1 win (mares grade over a mile at 'only' G2) and unplaced three times (albeit unlucky in the Toorak in her first G1 outing, but wouldn't have won). She should start 100-1 at least in the Cox Plate, punters actually gave SYT some hope.

If the main case for letting her in the field is because she may 'set the pace' then that says it all.

That said, she'd be far more competitive than Allez Wonder...

Either way the only way we'd see any action in the race involving her is if SYT stalked her and then reared rear to stick it in mid-race, and even then, he's smart enough to pick More Joyous firs

So You Think a deserved $1.50 favourite here and will street the field with even luck. Hope he does - racing needs a new superhorse to get people back to the track and if he wins by a space here and goes to the Melbourne Cup you will not be able to contain the hype around the Flemington carnival. He could possibly one of the top 5 horses in the history of Australian racing. I will be shattered if he gets beat.

GO YOU GOOD THING!!!!

I absolutely love More Joyous but So You Think is the champion this sport needs.

MJ I doubt will be at her best over a mile.

I'll be backing SYT even if he is $1.05 and then again in the Cup if he goes there.

Looking forward to seeing Linton go on with it, and of course Hay List
