What may save Davey is that India is probably viewed in isolation by selectors, it wouldn't surprise if they revert back to the pre India batting order in other conditions.

Just don't send him to England. Stuart Broad is still in menacing form - it'd be a case of sending a lamb to be slaughtered.

He should've retired Davey he was never making runs in India either. Selectors just can't let go either which is why I'm not confident this is it.

Ha ha - still hanging in there at 9/126...

EDIT: 126 all out - Eng won by 267 runs for their first test win in NZ since 2007 I think I read.
Gotta say - I'm getting more worried about this year's Ashes series by the day!!!

Geez, Travis Head really has trouble reading the spin on these wickets. He didn't have to go anywhere near that Ashwin delivery. It was a good delivery pitched outside of off stump turning away and Travis didn't have to play at it. I reckon opening is his position in India.

Watching the Aussies vs the Indian spinners is like watching a deer in headlights.
Utterly clueless.
They all play in these meaningless crap T20 competitions and then are put in a situation where they can’t just slog and have no defensive technique at all.

The amount of sweeping is ridiculous & obviously a tactic.

This is why the Hayden in India example is flawed, he was a great sweeper these guys are not.

Inspirational effort by the captain….

Absolutely, that ridiculous 1st ball D grade hoik across the line got exactly what it deserved, and as for Matthew Hayden describing it as an attempted sweep. o_O
Smith's dismissal was extremely poor as well, and then the selfish campaigner wasted a review, he had to know he missed that ball by plenty.

The leadership of Aussie cricket is clearly not in a good place.
