I really hope you're wrong but every test it seems more likely you could be right.
He'll probably be captain for the Ashes, although if we suffer 2 more big defeats in India, that could change. One thing the last 3 Tests (including the Sydney Test) have shown is how important Cam Green is to this team. Hopefully he's fit for the 3rd Test.

I just got back from getting a hair cut which is the only time I ever read the fertiliser, and Cummins is copping plenty in what I assume are articles that would be printed nationally.

One piece attributed to Peter Lalor had real crack at the Aussie batting and the non stop attempts to sweep, he mentioned in particular Smith, Carey, Renshaw ( who attempted 5 sweeps in only 8 balls), and Cummins `wild swipe across the line to the first ball he faced.'

The other piece (I didn't get the name of the journo and had only read the key points before I was called up to the chair) was very much along the lines of the honeymoon being over for Cummin's captaincy.

I think it says something about the depth of Indian cricket. Yeah they were missing a lot of players on that tour of Australia, but Siraj emerged as a future star of the game, and Pant - the best keeper/batsman since Gilchrist got them over the line.

The reputation of Pat Cummins has taken a real hit in India. He's made some curious decisions as skipper, and that ill fated first ball sweep yesterday was diabolical.

Pat Cummins is now making Hinkley like statements. 'We probably over played it here at times in the second innings.' Tell us something we don't know Pat. There is no 'probably' about it.

Cummins is a prima donna, it is no secret that he could not get on with Justin Langer and he turned his back on a multi million dollar sponsorship deal, now he is at the helm on a tour that has all the hallmarks of an impending catastrophe. Last week I put up a post in which Pat Cummins was espousing a new approach and he spoke about being 'a little bit brave'. There was nothing brave about yesterday's capitulation just a lot of stupid. Geez, being 'a little bit brave' reminds me a lot of Ken Hinkley's after match press conferences.

All we need from him now is an assertion that Test cricket is a tough game and someone has to lose, and he'll officially be a Hinkley clone.

The days of going over board with masculinity are long gone, which is obvious if you are a watcher of quiz shows on the ABC or SBS.

I like watching quiz shows as I believe it can help keeping the grey matter working, and in the first weekly final of Mastermind on friday, of the two male contestants, one was wearing platform sandals and gave a perfect rendition of Kenny Everett's crossed legged pose, while the other was an extremely homely looking bloke with longish bright red manicured finger nails.
Both were very cluey blokes, and after the first observation I became more interested in their answers than their probable sexuality.

The above aside the continued pats on the back and the laughing and joking between the Aussies and the Indians in this test series is too sugar sweet for me, there is no way the Indians would be acting like that if the boot was on the other foot.

Am I right in saying we opened our bowling with 2 spinners in their 2nd innings?
That's just BS.
No way should there be a pitch that even remotely suggests that course of action be taken - even if it was a Cummins decision. That it was even a thought bubble by Cummins, is a sad endictment on the quality of that pitch.
It denies that a spectrum of skills should exist in any team.
We are fortunate in Adelaide that we have a pitch that can almost be assured of providing a "5 dayer", giving benefits to pace bowling b4 slowly degrading for spinners to exercise their skills.
I know, it's a bit of a motherhood statement.

Are we talking about our cricketers, or Port Adelaide? Both downhill skiers of the highest order.

I'm not going to get into that discussion in a cricket thread, but part of Australia's problem has been poor preparation and questionable selections.

Also, I saw a tweet where someone suggested it would have been sensible to bring a former Indian Test batsman onto the coaching team for the tour to prepare the Australians for the type of shot selection and practice would be most suitable for playing on these wickets. Again, just no attention to detail in the preparation.

Pat Cummins did not bowl a ball in the Indian second innings and he only bowled 13 overs for the entire match! All this on a wicket where an Indian pace bowler broke David Warner's arm and gave him concussion. It was a spinner's wicketfor sure but Cummins should have used himself more.

It's like they've totally over thought the series, focussing on their weaknesses so much that they've totally forgotten their strengths.

I actually wondered whether it was a silent protest by Cummins, about the heavy bias in pitch preparation.

India have lost 2 out of 45+ tests in recent history in India. and have also beat Australia in Australia.

We have gone with 3 or 4 batsmen who can't play spin, and one experienced spinner of our own

Climate change being fake is the reason we lost the first 2 tests

India have gotten better in Australia since the drop-in road era pitches, get back to quick & bouncy wickets they'll never win here again.

Dunno about that - a pace attack of Bumrah, Shami and Siraj would be tough to face on a pitch like that.
