At least the Big Bash is now 44 games, instead of 61 like it was a couple of years ago. But yeah - it gets tiresome pretty quickly.

Ive honestly never followed it at all in terms of who is winning or losing. Occasionally if Ive been at a bar Ive watched a game for a bit of fun, but its hit and giggle stuff for drunks and kids. Its about as serious a competition as AFLX.

My view on T20 is its purely a revenue raiser.

Gets money from non serious cricket fans, and gives more players the income to stay in cricket and thus become good test options. Test cricket can be difficult to keep financially viable without it.

T20 should have been left to the franchise model and not been introduced to the world stage/international format!

Cheap tickets, especially for families is what helped grow the game. The Strikers had the advantage of a shiny new stadium between BBL seasons 4 and 6 to boost crowd numbers but cheap tickets all round Oz was the main driver of big crowds.

Yes, the revenue is the big plus for Cricket Australia. It is not just money from the gate but also money from TV rights and sponsors.I just wish they could programme the BBL so that it didn't cut across the Test matches. The BBL is like going to the dentist, it is some thing you know you need to do but you wish it wasn't so painful.

Actually the International model fits OK as they tend to schedule the T20s during tours. It is the franchise outfits such as the IPL and BBL that eat up the time that should be devoted to the longer forms of the game. In Australia we should be playing Shield cricket while the Test matches are being played. That way players have the chance to get some quality time in the middle. The Sheffield Shield does not resume until February after a two month break so there is no chance for players to impress the selectors or for players to work on their long game by spending time in the middle.

Cricket Australia (for some reason) don't want the BBL and WBBL to clash. I say why the hell not? Get them both out of the way before the start of the First Test - especially next summer for the Ashes. (and yes, I understand why they don't do it - the BBL is a massive money spinner in its current timeslot)

Yes, money with be the reason for sure. Possibly the TV rights are involved. As with the AFL, Cricket Australia is a slave to the networks.

Richard Hadlee in 1985 had the most dominant fast bowler touring series I can remember. 33 wickets in 3 tests, 2 x man of the match and player of the series.

He created quite a stir by keeping the player of the series prize and not sharing with his teammates. I think that kicked off the 'Hadlee's a w***er' chant

360 pace bowlers have taken 20 or more wickets in a series. Only four have an average thrice as good as the rest of their team-mates.

He too was three times as good as the rest of his team-mates in the 1985-86 Trans-Tasman Trophy. This is the company Bumrah is keeping.
